Today we’d like to introduce you to Carlos Valmory. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Carlos Valmory is originally from Mexico, the only child from a single mother who together immigrated to the United States at age eight. His passion for barbering started at a young age, and over the years, he has honed his skills to become one of the most sought-after barbers in the industry. In addition to his skills as a barber, Carlos is also a talented business owner and entrepreneur. He has successfully grown Made Men Creation Studios from a small startup to a trendsetting company, that is quickly gaining a reputation as the go-to place for grooming services in Houston. Carlos is on his way to expanding his barber shop empire. He’s surrounded with great partnerships and mentors who help him expand his knowledge. His commitment to personal development keeps him on the path to the ultra-successful businessman he strives to be.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Entrepreneurship is difficult for everyone, whether you are an immigrant or not. However, it is fair to say that it is even harder for immigrant entrepreneurs as we face specific challenges. One of the most common challenges faced by immigrant entrepreneurs are related to language barriers. Even though that was not the issue for me because I knew the language by the time I graduated high school, I did lack the language of business and financial knowledge. Those things are not taught where I’m from. A big struggle was the access to capital to start the business. Every financial institution would close its doors on me when I would ask about a business loan. I don’t blame them, I lacked the knowledge of business culture and practices, however, every door that got closed made me hungrier for knowledge and gave me the inspiration to do research and learn what I had to do in order to make my vision a reality. I now see every challenge and barrier as a blessing in disguise.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

What matters most to you?
I had never given much thought to determine exactly what I consider matters the most in my life. I believe I am one of many people who confront this question without a ready-made answer, and I am astonished by the realization that so many of us lead our lives without reflecting on our roles. So I took some time over the past few weeks to reflect on my personal history, present context, and future plans. By carefully analyzing my actions, attitudes, and behaviors, I have finally come up with a solid answer to this complex question. My priority, is a lifelong pursuit to improve myself as a human being and to leave a mark in this world and a positive change in the people that have crossed paths with me. Greek philosophers divided the human essence into a trilogy of mind, spirit, and body, and I find this a useful framework to break my life down into its three major dimensions: professional, spiritual, and personal. In my quest for self-improvement, I seek to make progress in each of those areas.
