Hi Carolina, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Carolina Refinetti, 41 years old, born in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), a woman who, after dealing with some personal setbacks, decided to open her own business. My relationship with the jewelry market began in Brazil in 2018 when I started reselling jewelry. After a few months of studying, researching, and broadening my understanding of the business, I fell in love with this universe and decided to create my jewelry brand, being able to follow the entire production process and guarantee a Carolina Refinetti quality standard – as well as choose the style of the brand and even develop exclusive pieces for customers. CR Jewelry aims to provide, from the moment clients are shopping to the after-sales process, a unique experience.
The idea of taking my brand to Houston arose after many trips to the city to visit my sister – which led me to fall in love with the city. After much research on the jewelry market in the region, I noticed the lack of high-standard jewelry pieces in 18k gold, so I decided to bring and offer something completely new in this segment. CR Jewelry has a differentiated and high-quality production process because we are not just another 18k gold jewelry company; our business goal is to provide a unique experience from service to after-sales. We aim to be a company that has more than customers; we want to have PARTNERSHIPS. NEVER forget: EVERY WOMAN WAS BORN TO SHINE.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I start by saying that NOTHING in life is easy, especially when it comes to a foreigner opening her brand in a country that is not her own. The obstacles are numerous, starting from the language and documentation required – can you imagine what it is like to open a company, to understand all the necessary bureaucracies, the different laws, to learn how to attract customers and build the company branding, and to do it all in another language? Yes, I’ve been through hardship, but I’ve NEVER given up, and on January 23, 2023, Carolina Refinetti Brazilian Jewelry was officially open. There will always be obstacles in life, so it is up to us to decide what to do with them, and in my case, I used them as steppingstones. We, women, are capable of MUCH more than we imagine, but we have to learn to believe in ourselves.

Carolina Refinetti Brazilian Jewelry is a company focused on and dedicated to women. During this process, I’ve studied the jewelry market not only as an entrepreneur but also as a jewelry consumer, and as an entrepreneur, I’ve noticed that companies are becoming more and more focused on selling, having resellers, reaching goals achieving popularity, adapting to the digital world… And yes, all of that is FUNDAMENTAL for companies to grow, but we must bear in mind that we will only grow and improve KPIs if we have the CONSUMER’S trust. Our clients are our most important assets, so I decided to make CR Jewelry a company that prioritizes and respects its client. What truly sets us apart is what we call the “Carolina Refinetti quality standard,” which means that all production is monitored and tested before reaching our customers. Our jewelry pieces also do not contain nickel; however, this is not what makes them hypoallergenic: they don’t cause allergic sensitization because they contain Palladium, a precious metal that has proved hypoallergenic properties, in addition to making jewelry more durable. Besides that, our pieces are plated with 4 layers of gold, the last one with 10 thousandths of gold 18ct – which we hardly ever see in the USA. We also work with jewelry in white gold, black rhodium, and rose gold. Because we are so confident on the quality of our products, we offer lifetime guarantee to all our pieces.
