Community Highlights: Meet Charnesia Blueford of The Peach Cobbler Lady

Today we’d like to introduce you to Charnesia Blueford

Hi Charnesia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
It all started in 2007 when my husband asked me if I knew how to make Peach Cobbler I didn’t but I called my mom who I knew made the best in my opinion and asked her how to make it for him, and she told me her way bit by bit. I made it for him and he loved it. Honestly I didnt know learning how to make peach cobbler would be life changing but it did. Through the years I made it for family , friends and coworkers all the time. It wasn’t until 2019 I started selling on Facebook for a side hustle. My friends and coworkers supported by either buying or just starting the post. I started getting messages from ppl I didn’t know asking about how they could get an order. I was like okay I need a business name and thats when The Peach Cobbler Lady came about. I just mixed what I was selling and my nickname together. I had no idea it would become a Brand. This was supposed to be side hustle to shop on my lunch breaks. in 2021 the houston grub park was getting ready to open I was selected and my life changed from here. we sold so many little pans of cobbler it will make your head spin When the gate opened everyone rushed to our table. We never had enough . It bothered me that ppl couldn’t get any so I started doubling the counts, My husband, both of my sisters and best friend stepped in to help out to make more . Customers would wait hours for us to come back. It was unreal . I was just a tent vendor.I really didn’t understand the magnitude of what was happening. I was just baking and selling cobblers and Houston fell in love. a while later the grub park closed down. i took a break then knew i needed to get back out and hustle. i looked for food truck parks to sell at and found the 3rd ward location called 4501 Almeda food truck park. thats pretty much when my bundt cakes started to come to life. i found out everyone didnt like cobblers. i had to make ends meet at that time. my bundt cakes started to go crazy ppl fell in love i went from 1 to a few now to 10 different flavors. a couple summers ago i was extremely hot and i had to get indoors. thats when i discovered the international market place. moved indoors and loved it. things are going great and now i have second location that just opened In September that will be open during the week so my customers no longer have to wait until the weekend to get their fix!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
it has not been a smooth road. i faced so many obtacles like starting all over. i literally had to recreate my self at the 4501 almeda location. alot of my customers didnt know where i was after the grub park closed. i found myself considering going back to work bc i was in a situation ive never been before since ive always worked. things were not going as they were. but that struggle taught me alot . and i didnt give up and go back to work i kept having faith that it was going to work and it did slowly but showly. . If i didnt go through the challenges i faced i wouldn’t have my bundt cakes. i wouldnt be where i am today.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about The Peach Cobbler Lady?
I am the owner and baker .

I specialize in nostalgic dessert

peach cobblers , peachless

a variety of bundt cakes

I am proud of myself for never giving up . God has been with me through out this entire journey and i am so thankful.

i feel what sets me apart from others is I’m not just looking for a sale I’m looking for the joy my desserts bring to others and having returning customers that becomes family. i tell them all the time welcome to the family and ill see them soon. and it trips them out when they return and laugh about their experience..

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
i don’t believe in good or bad luck.
I’m Gods child and I know he leads me in the direction i need to go. I’ll just continue to have faith and follow his lead.
