Hello! My name is Cherell, but I go by Evon for my business, Gems by Evon.
Now that you know my name, let me tell you more about me.
I chose to use my middle name, Evon, because it holds personal significance to me. I’ve been in the dental field for about 8 years now, and my passion for teeth runs deep. From a young age, I’ve been fascinated with dentistry and even dreamed of becoming an orthodontist. Although I didn’t pursue that path due to the lengthy schooling required, I’ve always believed it’s never too late to chase your dreams.
Instead, I chose to attend dental assisting school, where I graduated at the top of my class in 2017. Working in dentistry has been fulfilling, but in 2022, I decided to take a leap of faith and start my own business offering tooth gems. The idea came from my sister, who suggested it after completing her Invisalign treatment. Her suggestion sparked something in me, and I thought, Why not help others enhance their smiles too?
Now, I absolutely love helping people fall back in love with their smiles—whether it’s by adding a gem or brightening their teeth with non-invasive whitening treatments. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing the joy on someone’s face when they confidently show off their teeth after my work.
Helping others rediscover the beauty of their smile has truly been one of the most fulfilling journeys of my life.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Honestly, the road has been pretty smooth overall. I have a lot of dental professional knowledge and know how to handle most challenges that come my way. I make it a priority to avoid situations that could lead to big issues, like working on people with periodontal disease.
However, the hardest part is that I’m really the only person running my business. While I enjoy being hands-on with my clients and offering services I’m passionate about, it can be overwhelming at times. One of the biggest challenges is figuring out what to post on social media to keep my audience engaged and my business growing. Balancing everything can be tough, but I’m always learning and adapting.

When I notice potential dental issues with my clients, I understand how sensitive those conversations can be. I strive to address these concerns thoughtfully and compassionately, always prioritizing honesty while being mindful of their feelings. My goal is to set an example of integrity, ensuring clients feel supported, respected, and empowered every step of the way.
