Hi CutthroatKitchn, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
CutthroatKitchn is a brand that utilizes the skill of culinary arts and digital media to curate cooking videos in the format of less than a minute. The videos/reels demonstrates how to create familiar cuisines with also including the recipe at no cost. CutthroatKitchn at the root began with love and continues with love.
It started from a seed planted by my grandmother, Evelyn Walker in Dallas (Oakcliff), TX. Since I was 5, I can remember my dad forcing me in the kitchen to sit and observe. Observing turned to putting my Easy Bake Oven right next to Ms. Evelyn’s then eventually maturing to be able to stand right next to her. When I left off to college, I was introduced to my own blank space for the first time. It was intimating because I was used to having Evelyn’s voice to guide, critique and confirm my moves along the way. Now I begun to establish my own voice.
In that journey I understood the power of food and why I became passionate behind it : it brings people together (inclusion). With that I focused on the factor of comfort and familiarity by incorporating music like I naturally have done when I would dance in the kitchen with Ms.Evelyn. I unintentionally found an outlet to reflect that love in an engaging, informative way. In 2022 videos of myself cooking with motion cuts, animation and music that attracted my peers gained attention & momentum on TIkTok then Instagram reaching 100,000 views. I was not aware of the impact it made with being focused on graduating college at the time until I started to be approached in acknowledgement of the content. Most were shocked to see I was just a 22 year old college student. After graduating, I gave my full attention to Corporate America and establishing my professional career in 2023.
The shift happened once my grandmother, Ms.Evelyn passed May 2024. That was my first experience of grief and I was not sure how to navigate through it. I found my outlet through cooking to help grieve and hear her voice again and mirror the traits of love she introduced me to.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been some critiques along the way with understanding the brand trajectory I wanted for CutthroatKitchn and creating and executing strategies to meet the brands goals of inclusion, effective learning, and engagement. I have gain the understanding of how importance being consistent and never getting comfortable is and always seeking ways to improve.

CutthroatKitchn is rooted in the purpose of supporting young women and young men in their growth of learning while bringing familiarity from all perspectives of life. If you are an amateur but driven, simple but want to become sharper, or a self proclaimed pit master EVERYONE is welcome in this kitchen. We understand not everyone was able to captivate moments with matriarchs to be able to learn but now it starts with us. Cooking can be intimidating but with the right guidance and a safe space to learn anyone can cook! If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was very proactive and curious. I mainly was curious about how others perceptions of life were and how they came to be. In that observation I learn no matter how different we are we all have something in common, it is just shown in a different way.
