Community Highlights: Meet Dominic Piggee of A1hiphop

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominic Piggee

Hi Dominic, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Me and my business partner started A1 in 2010 , around March. We started it because at the time there was no sites representing Houston. We had a original site called Backpackrapper . Com. But we kind of see where those artist went right? But in Houston they said A1 alot. And we was dealing with HipHop and rnb and alternative music. So we just put it together with HipHop and called it A1hiphop. Because we are not just a local site at the time so we wanted to make it diverse

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not a smooth one at all. But that’s the way it is as a business man. From the site getting hacked in it’s early stages ,to losing name and getting it back from spammers back then to people not really being serious about doing media and being a journalist and more . But it comes with it

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about A1hiphop ?
What sets us apart is,that we are a diverse company. We make sure that interviews are done professional and not all over the place and people talking over each other like they do today. We like to call ourselves the MTV/BET 90s of today. Because it’s a full circle page. We are known for giving exclusives from biopics and life stories. One you might know is All eyes on me film . For Tupac. I made sure then I gave exclusives from the film and even interviewed Benny Boom and Lt Hutton. One of the many things I’m proud of. And also interviewing celebrities for All-star weekend 2013 In Houston. From Lala and vibing with Beyonce

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Teamwork makes the dream work. Make sure that they follow your lead but add to what you are doing . Keep at least 3 to 5 people like you as d stay with them and travel your dreams. And the people will come . And also do ya research and not to be like anyone else site or YouTube. Do something that you are known for
