Community Highlights: Meet Drs. Alton & Candace Canady of Couple of Chiros

Today we’d like to introduce you to Drs. Alton & Candace Canady.

Hi Drs. Canady, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We are Drs. Alton and Candace Canady are a couple of chiropractors! Most people think we met in chiropractic school, but the truth is we met at Prairie View A&M University, where we went for undergrad. After graduation, we made the decision together to go to Texas Chiropractic College, where we received our doctorate in chiropractic. We didn’t start or own practice until 2017, after we each worked for different practices and quickly realized that we needed to start our own. We took a leap of faith and opened in Missouri City, Tx. When we started, we never imagined the things that we would experience in chiropractic. Being chiropractors has truly been rewarding through serving our community by helping to improve overall health in those we treat.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I believe the biggest struggle that we sometimes have is just getting people to understand the importance of spinal health. There are a lot of negative stigmas and false claims made against chiropractors and the profession in general. We break the mold of what chiropractic looks like and truly believe that it is our mission and life’s purpose to show others what it is like to truly live life, through improved overall health, to its full potential.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Couple of Chiros Inc?
We are chiropractors that specialize in spinal correction. It would be easy to say we “pop” bones or only treat neck or back pain, but we really do so much more. Your spine has a natural position that it needs to be in for healthy function to occur. We all know there are a laundry list of things that could happen to your body throughout life that could cause your spine to become distorted and misaligned. Traumas and repetitive stresses of the spine often cause misalignments leading to a variety of symptoms and decreased overall function. When this happens, you may feel pain, discomfort, or be dealing with a particular condition, and that is where we come in. Chiropractors are trained to remove dysfunction from the joints of the spine, which ultimately restores motion but most of all function. Allowing your nervous system to be free of interference is where healthy living really begins. Our practice has been so rewarding and unique in the sense that we really get to become part of some of our patients’ families and lives. We take pride in everything pertaining to the spine and overall holistic health. When you come in, we will take a detailed set of films that provide everything we need to know about where the dysfunction is, the severity of it, and what treatment looks like for you. The best part is that we walk you through each stage of care to ensure there is an understanding of what’s being done but more importantly why.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
LUCK? Are you kidding? We get to work with each other, which makes us feel so lucky! It is not always easy being each other’s business partner and spouse, but honestly, we would not have it any other way. We are also very lucky to be in a profession that is parallel with our core beliefs and family values. It is important that our kids understand the value of hard work, integrity, and most of all what health really is because true health is the vehicle for which ALL else is possible.
