Today we’d like to introduce you to Elias Chirico.
Hi Elias, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
It has been more than 10 years since I came to the USA, and although I used to work in the Oil & Gas industry, I was always involved with music because I studied it since I was 5 years old. My father, born in Italy in the town of Teora (the name of the music school), motivated and inspired me and my siblings to make music an element that always accompanied our family’s life. I am an Electronic Engineer with an MBA by profession but a piano Musician by passion. It was in 2018 where the conditions to chase the dream of my life emerged. Thus, Teora Music School was born. What I most wish now, is that this community, which has received me and my family so affectionately, can enjoy the benefits and blessings that music provides to all individuals. Although we use methods depending on the needs and goals of each student, our main method comes from the renowned Japanese firm Yamaha. A system which has a philosophy of teaching in all continents for more than 60 years.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Living up to my own expectations would be my biggest challenge. I am a very demanding person and I seek that this translates into satisfaction for everyone: my students, my employees, my family. Especially with the addition of starting a project like Teora Music School in a country where labor, social, economic and communication laws are very different from my country of origin. And with the Covid-19 pandemic, reinvention was key to being able to continue with our teaching mission, offering the online version at a very high quality.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Teora Music School in The Woodlands, has a completely cutting-edge infrastructure, offering a variety of courses and services related to music education and music production, all in one place. We have a group of high quality music professionals, several of them started since we opened and have remained since, and an administrative and managerial staff that has allowed us to reach more than 400 students.
Although we use methods depending on the needs and goals of each student, our main method comes from the renowned Japanese firm Yamaha. Yamaha’s system is a philosophy of teaching music in all continents for more than 60 years.
As the Teora Music School Director, I can say that our results show that this project works, that the teachers are of high quality, that the students are happy, and I am excited to promote the joy of teaching music as a complementary approach to the cultural development of human beings.
What are your plans for the future?
Consolidate ourselves as the reference music school in our community, expand to offer sale of musical instruments, books, that inspire and help all individuals, whether in their childhood or in their adulthood, to give a home to musicians, and allow people to discover the musician that lives in them.
