Today we’d like to introduce you to Evan Diaz.
Hi Evan, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I grew up around senior care. My mother owned a home health agency, so from a young age I saw firsthand how important it is to protect and support older adults. I also saw how vulnerable many seniors can be when they don’t have the right guidance or trustworthy help. That perspective stayed with me.
As I got older, my career took me into the technology field and eventually into cybersecurity. In that world, I began noticing a clear and troubling pattern: adults over 60 were consistently among the most targeted victims of online scams and digital fraud. I wasn’t just reading statistics, I was seeing the real situations, the financial losses, the confusion, and the emotional stress that came with it. At the same time, I realized many seniors simply weren’t given the education or patient technical support they needed to navigate modern devices safely.
That realization pushed me to start speaking at local retirement communities, giving simple, practical presentations on cybersecurity and online safety. Those talks quickly turned into one-on-one requests for help, and through word of mouth I began assisting more and more seniors with their devices, accounts, and digital problems.
It became obvious to me that this entire age group is deeply underserved when it comes to trustworthy, patient, in-person digital support.
That’s what ultimately led me to create Tech On Demand, a company built specifically to troubleshoot, assist, and educate older adults on their technology. Our mission isn’t just to fix devices; it’s to make seniors self-sufficient, confident, and protected in the digital world.
Because technology shouldn’t make anyone feel helpless, especially the generation that built everything before us.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the realities people don’t always see is that helping older adults with technology involves a lot more than just fixing a device. There are many hoops to navigate because this generation wasn’t born into the digital world. Most of our clients didn’t grow up using smartphones, apps, or even computers in their professional lives, so today’s technology can genuinely feel like a foreign environment to them.
Because of that, the real challenge isn’t technical; it’s human. You have to take the time to explain things calmly, clearly, and in very simple terms, while still being efficient and respectful of their time. Finding that balance is incredibly important, because if the pace is too fast, clients feel overwhelmed; if it’s too slow, they can feel frustrated or discouraged. Getting that formula right requires patience, empathy, and strong communication more than anything else.
Another layer is that some clients are dealing with cognitive conditions such as Alzheimer’s or dementia, which can naturally create additional obstacles in learning and retaining digital information. That means our approach has to be even more compassionate and personalized. At Tech On Demand, we make a conscious effort to treat every client the way we would treat our own family, putting ourselves in their shoes, understanding their fears, and making sure they always feel safe and respected.
Behind the scenes, one of my personal responsibilities is making sure the right people represent this company. Selecting employees isn’t just about technical skill; it’s about character, patience, and ethics. Our clients trust us with extremely sensitive personal and financial information, so I’m very deliberate about hiring individuals who share the same values and commitment to protecting our clients’ security and dignity.
At the end of the day, this work isn’t just about technology, it’s about trust
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Tech On Demand is a Houston-based technology support and cybersecurity education company built specifically for older adults. We provide in-home, one-on-one assistance helping seniors troubleshoot devices, secure their accounts, understand their technology, and ultimately become confident and self-sufficient in the digital world.
What makes us different is that we are not a traditional IT company and we are not a remote call center. Our entire model is centered around patience, education, and trust. We come directly to the client, sit with them, and take the time to explain not just what we are fixing, but why it matters and how they can handle it themselves moving forward. The goal is never to create dependency, the goal is empowerment and safety.
We specialize heavily in cybersecurity for seniors, which has become increasingly critical as adults over 60 are among the most targeted groups for online scams, fraud, and account takeovers. Beyond simply resolving technical issues, we actively work to prevent future problems by teaching clients how to recognize scams, secure their devices properly, and navigate the internet with confidence.
Another thing that sets us apart is our transparency and safety protocols. Our sessions are fully documented and recorded for client protection and instructional review, and we maintain extremely high standards when it comes to employee selection, professionalism, and ethical handling of sensitive information. Our clients are often trusting us with banking access, Medicare accounts, personal email, and other critical systems, so accountability and security are foundational to everything we do.
Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is the level of trust we’ve built. The majority of our growth has come through word of mouth within retirement communities, care managers, and families of seniors who want their loved ones protected. That tells me we’re solving a real problem in a meaningful way.
What I want readers to understand is that Tech On Demand isn’t just about fixing computers or phones. We exist to make sure older adults are not left behind in a world that is becoming more digital every day. Everyone deserves to feel safe, capable, and independent when using technology and that’s the mission driving everything we do.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
More than any app, podcast, or business book, the two things I rely on most are my faith and my family. My foundation is rooted in Scripture and the principles I draw from the Bible; patience, integrity, service to others, and treating people the way you would want to be treated. Those values guide not only my personal life but also how I run my business and how we care for our clients at Tech On Demand.
Working with older adults requires a great deal of compassion, honesty, and responsibility, and my faith keeps me centered on the idea that the work we do is ultimately about serving people and protecting them, not just solving technical problems.
Equally important is my family. They keep me grounded, give me perspective, and remind me why the work matters in the first place. Growing up around senior care through my mother’s home health agency shaped the direction of my life, and today my family continues to be my biggest source of motivation, accountability, and support.
For me, success isn’t built on productivity tools alone, it’s built on strong values, clear purpose, and the people who stand beside you.
