

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gustavo Ramirez.
Hi Gustavo, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
like my business story? started it out of frustration with employers, feeling undervalued, underpaid, and no real growth. I was basically just a body and my only job was to work. So I got what they call the “entrepreneur seizure”. Basically started with not knowing what I was doing or what I was getting myself into. Never really got into any trouble with clients or in my business in any way, it was all a mindset that was my biggest problem. Fast forward to today, we still have our struggles but have moved on from how we operated in our early stages.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Mindset. Many of us, whether contractors, school teachers, or parents. We all deal with some sort of head trash. And that was the biggest obstacle.
You change your mind, you change your world. Overcoming this head trash, not only has allowed me to be a better person, has helped me deliver better service and propel my business.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Ramirez Painting Service?
We are a painting firm. We deal with residential and commercial clients, Those are two very different forms of client and operation. When it comes to commercials, it is pretty straightforward. You have to make sure scheduling, equipment, and materials are taken care of and of course, make sure you’re following prints accordingly. Our residential side is a little more intimate because you are entering occupied homes sometimes. Staff must be more trained in the customer service side, cleanliness is a big priority. We specialize mainly in interior work, we do your basic wall paints, and where I believe we deliver our wow factor is on our cabinet refinishing department. The reason why and how we differ? We do not use conventional paints for cabinets. We use industrial wood coatings. Italian paints that are KCMA certified. These products not only deliver exceptional finishes but are made specifically for kitchen use. And allows us to produce the work in almost half the time.
We are a small business, doing honest work and honest living. We have our core values that we not only operate by but use as a guide to employ and make internal decisions.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
All my favorite books and podcast are either sales or mindset-oriented. For contractors, I highly recommend The Contractor Fight with Tom Rebar.
The E-Myth book by Micheal Gerber. Never split the difference by Chris Voss. My recommendation for anyone wanting to find ways to make money other than their job will be Robert Kiyosaki’s book; Rich dad, poor dad. I believe it is a good stepping stone into entrepreneurism.
