Community Highlights: Meet Igho Eshareturi of Ramji Law Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Igho Eshareturi.

Hi Igho, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I migrated with my mother and 3 brothers to the US at 17 and started college a few months later at Sam Houston State University. I graduated in 3.5 years with BBA in Operations Management. Shortly after, I began a career as a Supply Chain Specialist with DHL. I was able to complete an MBA in 2013 and left DHL a few years later to Supervise delivery truck drivers for HEB, a position I held through Law School. Upon passing the bar, I took a position as an Assistant Attorney General with the Texas Attorney General. Specifically, I wanted courtroom experience and to sharpen my advocacy skills. After 18 months, I transitioned to a Litigation Attorney with Ramji Law Group. In that position, I have negotiated and resolved hundreds of cases and tried others to verdicts. I am married to my wife of 9 years, and we share three children, 2 girls, and a boy. We are actively involved in our church.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The first struggle I encountered was the cultural change in my home country versus the US. Specifically, I had planned to attend Law School immediately after grade school. Unfortunately, coming to the US, I realized that I needed a separate undergraduate degree before law school.

Early college years were tough as o tried to acclimatize to the system while my family did the same hundreds of miles away.

Spending 10 years in Supply chain made the return to law school difficult

Additionally, having 2 infants in law school and a full time job was almost impossible

Transitioning from Supply Chain to Law was a setback financially and challenging to me and my young family.

As you know, we’re big fans of Ramji Law Group. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
As a litigation attorney, i manage my docket making sure that cases move from stage to stage, attempt to settle cases where possible and try cases when necessary.

I also develop tools for younger lawyers and clients to help explain legal processes and facilitate events such as mediations and trials.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Technology is going to be integral to law going forward. Although the industry has been historically resistant to changes, Covid 19 has fundamentally impacted the way law firms operate. Many firms, having adapted out of necessity, are now able to function in remote and hybrid workspaces. Advertising and operations have also adapted technology in new and interesting ways.
