Community Highlights: Meet Inger Daniels of Moving Forward Psychiatry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Inger Daniels.

Hi Inger, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I began nursing over 20 years ago as a LVN, licensed vocational nurse. It was my desire to continue my education in nursing to become a RN, registered nurse. After obtaining my Bachelors in nursing and becoming an RN, I knew that there was more for me to learn and do. While in the Bachelors program at PVAMU my passion for mental was ignited. I began work in the mental health field and went on to pursue a Masters in Nursing with a concentration as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.

After working as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner I saw an opportunity to start my own private practice. In 2022 I opened Moving Forward Psychiatry.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting your own private practice is not easy. There are struggles to navigate insurance payers, making sure you are complying with regulatory guidelines, marketing the business, and financial planning to name a few.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
In my practice, I perform psychiatric evaluations for mental health illness’ , prescribe medication treatment including alternative or complementary treatments and recommend psychotherapy as needed.

What sets me apart from others is that in my practice I am able to provide more personal care and attention. I’m able to take the time to really listen to my patients needs and concerns. It is important to me that my patient is included in the decision making process so I review with them several treatment options and we decide what is the best fit for them.

What I’m most proud of is that my practice is founded in my spirituality. In my personal times of distress, God has directed me to pray, to move, and to go forward. And those are the pillars that Moving Forward Psychiatry was founded on.

The directive that God gave me, to pray move forward not only shaped Moving Forward Psychiatry, but is now a lifestyle brand. The Pray. Move. Forward. brand offers a selection of journals, apparel, drinkware, and tote bags that aim to inspire and motivate in the journey of moving forward.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t really believe in luck. I aim to move in purpose in life and business.
