Community Highlights: Meet Janet Adebayo of Hairbyjenny

Today we’d like to introduce you to Janet Adebayo.

Hi Janet, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My thought process behind starting my own business was basically to make an impact and to make a difference in my family.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Trying to balance life, work, and school together.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
My name is Janet Adebayo. I was born in Nigeria. All my life, I have always wanted to do something creative and inspiring. My journey as a hairstylist started when I was 15 years old in Nigeria, where I got the opportunity to attend vocational training on how to braid while attending high school at the same time. At first, people thought I was crazy for having so much on my plate. I wanted to prove to myself that I can do what I love. Also, I have a passion for acting, which is an accomplishment in my life as a hairstylist. I am currently pursuing my love for children as a pediatric medical social worker at the University of Houston while attending a school of drama in Los Angeles alongside with been a braider in Houston. Getting to this stage in my business is all about God’s blessings, favor, and hard work. It’s not easy trying to pursue my dreams as an actress and trying to build my own brand. My goal is to help the less privileged children in the United States with my business and children back home in Nigeria. For those children who do not have the opportunity to pursue what they love, my goal is to inspire, help and encourage as many as possible. I want the world to know that I am so grateful for what God has bestowed upon me as a hairstylist and I am also grateful for their support so far in my life.
