Community Highlights: Meet Jeanna Hawkins of A Perfect Type, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeanna Hawkins

Hi Jeanna, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have always been interested in art, from creating graffiti for t-shirts for friends in high school, to photography. I attended a Summer program at the Art Institute of Houston my senior year in high school and fell in love with Commercial Advertising & Marketing.

Having worked in different aspects of customer service and in corporate America, it all came full circle when I began creating logos for friends with businesses.

I began A Perfect Type in 2009 and it has evolved into a business consulting and marketing firm. We take the small business owner on a journey of discovery, visually.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It wasn’t a smooth road to transition from being an employee to a business owner, but it was well worth confronting the fact that doing what I love brought me more peace.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about A Perfect Type, LLC?
I have been given the ability to take what my client’s vision is for their event, business, magazine, or service and turn it into what they desire.

I try taking the owner’s personality into account when creating the designs, as well as what they want their end user/audience to see. Most of my clients I have never met in person, as my service is offered nationwide, but words and emotion speak volumes.

Generally, with branding, I begin with creating the logo. This usually evolves into business marketing material for the client, social media marketing, website design, stationary, magazines, and yes, even business administration materials.

Making sure that the brand, is the highlight. This is why my tagline is, “Manifesting Your Vision, One Design At A Time.”

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
I would like them to understand that everything changes and evolves. Flexibility in your work always helps. Who knew one day that I would illustrate for a children’s book? Allow, your natural abilities to shine.
