Community Highlights: Meet Jessica Palm of Palm Essence Hair

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Palm.

Hi Jessica, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started my hair stylist career working for a really great salon company. I was part of that team for 13 years. During my time there I had the opportunity to grow in my craft and build a really great clientele. To be honest, I never really gave running my own business a whole lot of thought. I was comfortable where I was and change tends to make me a little nervous. However in mid 2023 my mind frame began to shift. I began to research what it would take to become an independent stylist. I was so scared and questioned my ability to run a successful business. But with a lot a lot of prayer and encouragement and support from my amazing husband Adrian, I took a leap of faith in April of 2024 and created Palm Essence Hair! I first ran my business out of the cutest booth rental salon in Clute Tx. I operated out of there for about 10 months and had finally gotten into groove of all the things I had to do to run my business such as inventory, keeping track of business expenses, restocking supplies and most importantly continuing to provide a great experience for all my guests. Just as had gotten comfortable God asked me to move AGAIN. Moving twice in less than a year felt crazy! I was given the opportunity to be able to move Palm Essence Hair into a private studio. For me this meant a more intimate one-on-one experience with my guests, a place where one could come and be completely themselves and feel comfortable no matter what. It was also a space I’d be able to call my own, so I knew it was an opportunity I could not pass up. And here I am today! My love for connecting with people and building relationships (the pretty hair is just a plus 😉) has never faltered even with all the change. It’s not something I take granted, and im grateful I get to do this everyday.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My biggest challenge was self doubt. The thought of running my own business after 13 years of working for a salon overwhelmed me

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Palm Essence Hair ?
Im a hairstylist of 14+years of experience. Im a Redken Color Certified Stylist, meaning Ive had extensive traing in all things Redken Color. Im also certified in two different types of hair extensions, beaded sew in extensions and tape in extensions. Ive recently started offering brow lamination and lash lifts as well.

I genuinely enjoy every person that sits in my chair. It brings me joy to provide services that make people feel good. It doesnt always have to be a major transformation, sometimes we just need a little “me” time and im happy to provide that too!

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
First and foremost, none of this could have been possible without my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. All the glory Him.

2nd. My sweet and amazing husband Adrian. He’s always so encouraging! He’s wanted this for me for a long time. His support has made this journey easier 100%

My best friend Monica was a such a good voice of reason when I was scared.

Of course my family, from helping me move salons (twice) to just always being such a good support system. Special shout out to my cute little mom who’s a great reminder of what hard work is

The owners of the salon i worked at (Jennifer and Jason) taught me so much. Im grateful for the time I spent there .

And definitely wouldn’t be here without my all of my sweet guests. From the ones I’ve had from day one to the most recent, im grateful for every single one.
