Today we’d like to introduce you to Julie Morvant.
Hi Julie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Julie Morvant: Healing Through a Mind, Body, and Spirit Lens
For Julie Morvant, founder of Happy Couch Counseling, counseling is more than a profession — it is a calling shaped by personal loss, lived experience, and a deep commitment to whole-person healing. Her work is grounded in the belief that lasting wellness comes from supporting the mind, body, and spirit together.
Julie’s path into the mental health field was profoundly influenced by the death of her father. Experiencing grief at that depth changed how she understood emotional pain and resilience and revealed how trauma can live not only in the mind, but also in the body and nervous system. That season of her life became a turning point — one that ultimately shaped both her clinical approach and the heart behind Happy Couch Counseling.
Through her own healing journey, Julie came to recognize that traditional talk therapy alone does not always address the full impact of loss and trauma. While processing emotions is essential, she saw how the brain and body often need support before deeper emotional and spiritual healing can occur. This realization fueled her passion for integrative, brain-based care.
Julie pursued advanced training in evidence-based counseling and neurotechnology, including IASIS Microcurrent Neurofeedback Therapy, a gentle, noninvasive approach that helps the brain regulate itself. She has witnessed how calming the nervous system can lead to meaningful improvements in anxiety, emotional regulation, sleep, and mental clarity — creating space for deeper insight and connection.
This philosophy continues to shape the services offered at Happy Couch Counseling. In addition to counseling and neurofeedback, Julie will soon be introducing the VEMI Bed, a restorative wellness technology that supports whole-body regulation through pulsed electromagnetic fields, infrared light, and other modalities. For Julie, the VEMI Bed represents another way to honor the body’s role in emotional and spiritual healing — providing clients with space to slow down, reset, and restore.
While Julie is the heart behind Happy Couch Counseling, she is supported by a compassionate team that shares her holistic vision. Abi Carpenter, LPC-A, is part of the practice and works alongside Julie to support teens and adults navigating anxiety, trauma, grief, life transitions, and emotional overwhelm. Together, they offer care that is thoughtful, personalized, and deeply relational.
Julie’s approach to counseling is shaped by empathy and authenticity. Her own experience with loss informs how she shows up with clients — with patience, warmth, and an understanding that healing is not linear. She believes clients already carry resilience within themselves; her role, and the role of Happy Couch Counseling, is to help create the conditions where that healing can unfold.
Today, Julie serves clients in the Houston area and across Texas through telehealth, offering integrative care that honors each individual’s story. Whether through counseling, neurofeedback, or restorative technologies, her focus remains the same: helping people feel more regulated, connected, and whole.
At the center of Happy Couch Counseling is Julie’s personal mission — to create the kind of support she once needed herself. A space where people are seen, where healing honors the mind, body, and spirit, and where no one has to face life’s hardest moments alone.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The challenge was finding more than talk therapy. Therefore, introducing IASIS Microcurrent Neurofeedback and now the VEMI bed.
We’ve been impressed with Happy Couch Counseling, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Happy Couch Counseling empowers individuals and couples to build strong relationships, grow in faith, and achieve emotional well-being. Through compassionate talk therapy and innovative tools—like IASIS Microcurrent Neurofeedback and our soon-to-arrive VEMI bed—we combine proven techniques with cutting-edge solutions. Our welcoming, forward-thinking approach creates a space where meaningful growth and lasting change happen.
