Today we’d like to introduce you to Katerina Vengoechea.
Hi Katerina, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Back in high school, I took a psychology course, and I instantly loved it. At the same time, my own family dynamics were undergoing some massive transitions, and I started seeing a therapist for the first time. I remember being so against it at first. You know, the whole “rebellious teen” thing. However, as soon as I walked out of my first session, I remember feeling so heard and seen. It had honestly been such a long time since I had felt that way. I instantly became excited to attend my therapy sessions, and then I felt like something clicked for me, and I realized that I wanted to help people who were feeling similarly. I wanted to be someone who had the skills to provide a safe space for people to show up as their most authentic selves and to create experiences of validation for others who were in need of it. From then on, I began working towards my career goal of being a therapist.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not always been a smooth road. There have been instances of high anxiety, pressure, and so much work. COVID really put my career on hold for a bit, and then there was a lot of forced adaptability that had to be practiced. Familial transitions, the economy, and the world shutting down were big hurdles that I had to jump. Then, when things started to calm down a bit, I moved on to figuring out what I wanted my practice to be like and then working on it to get to where I wanted it to be. It is a constant journey. However, I am so lucky to be surrounded by people who are so supportive (family, colleagues, and people I love to collaborate with). It has all been SO worth it!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next, you can tell us a bit more about your business.
