Community Highlights: Meet Kelsey Fyffe, LPC-S, CEDS-C of Live Mindfully Psychotherapy PLLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelsey Fyffe, LPC-S, CEDS-C.

Hi Kelsey, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Early in my training, I found myself drawn to the complexity of eating disorders, OCD, and trauma—conditions that are often misunderstood and, at times, overlooked. The more I learned, the more I realized how many people were silently struggling without access to specialized support. That became a turning point for me.

Over the years, I pursued advanced training in treatments like EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Exposure and Response Prevention for OCD. Learning these specialized treatments helped me support clients in ways that actually reduce their suffering and give them a clear path toward relief, freedom, and long-term change.

I also discovered a passion for working with athletes and dancers, who face unique pressures around identity, performance, and body expectations. The same year that I launched my practice, Live Mindfully Psychotherapy, I also began working with the Houston Ballet. I have served as the staff therapist for their professional academy students for the past eight years.

Today, I feel grateful to do this work—to sit with people during the hardest parts of their lives and support them as they build a life that feels more free and fulfilling. It’s a privilege I never take lightly, and it’s the reason I continue to love what I do.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a perfectly smooth road, but those challenges ultimately led me to the specialties I’m so passionate about today. Early in my career, I realized just how emotionally demanding this work can be and how important it is to serve the clients I’m best equipped to help. I’ve always wanted to support people in creating real, lasting change in their lives, so I’ve made it a priority to continually deepen my skills and seek out advanced training. Every step, even the hard ones, has shaped me into a more effective and intentional therapist.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Live Mindfully Psychotherapy is built on the belief that people deserve specialized, compassionate care—especially when they’re facing conditions that can feel isolating or misunderstood. I primarily work with individuals navigating eating disorders, OCD, and PTSD. On the surface these issues may seem unrelated, but many of my clients share a similar personality style: the type-A, perfectionistic, anxious overachiever. Sometimes that shows up as intrusive thoughts or rigid eating patterns, and other times it’s a professional ballet dancer learning how to speak to themselves with more kindness.

Even with these shared traits, the challenges I treat require highly specialized training, and that’s something I’ve always taken seriously. Clients trust me with the most vulnerable parts of their lives and I honor that by staying grounded in evidence-based care and continually expanding my expertise.

What I hope readers take away is that support is available no matter how complicated or overwhelming things may feel. At Live Mindfully, I offer specialized therapy for eating disorders, OCD, trauma, and performance-related concerns in athletes and dancers. My work is rooted in research-backed approaches and genuine compassion. Above all, my goal is to help people reconnect with themselves and build lives that feel fulfilling and aligned with their values.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
For anyone just starting out in this field, my biggest piece of advice is to stay curious and humble. You don’t have to know everything right away, and you’re definitely not going to. What matters most is your willingness to learn, seek supervision, and lean on the people who have the expertise you need.
