Today we’d like to introduce you to Khristopher Scott.
Hi Khristopher, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started Saved From the Trap in 2021 while working in Juvenile Probation. One day after hosting an incentive lunch with the youth in my unit, we had a real conversation about why they kept reoffending. One young man told me he would rather violate probation and attend school while incarcerated than go back to his regular school. When I asked why, he explained that at his school the cameras did not work and if something happened to him no one would know who did it or how it happened.
That moment hit me hard. I realized the issue was not just about choices, it was about safety, fear, and the environments these kids were forced to survive in. I knew I had to create something that would give them tools, hope, and a safe space to grow. That is when Saved From the Trap was born, an organization created to help youth navigate the different traps life can bring, whether it is mental health struggles, negative environments, peer pressure, or social media influences.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No it wasn’t a smooth road at first. I had the idea, but didn’t know where to start. Everyone laughed at me because they thought the name was too hood. Not knowing God had revealed to me a way that could merge the streets with the church, in a fashion that the world could relate. Many turned their backs on me, life got hard, my faith wavered, and I even put the program on the shelf. Then one day with the motivation from my fiancée, I took a leap of faith and started walking in my purpose.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Saved From the Trap is a faith driven program created to empower youth to overcome the challenges that life places in front of them. We focus on helping young people navigate the traps that can hold them back, such as mental health struggles, negative environments, peer pressure, and the influence of social media.
Our mission is to transform the way youth see themselves by showing them that they have value, purpose, and strength beyond their circumstances. Through mentorship, group sessions, community engagement, and faith based guidance, we provide a safe space where youth can grow, heal, and develop the tools they need to thrive.
What are your plans for the future?
My plans for the future is simple. Be a better spouse, father, and advocate.l I pride myself on growth even when things get slow or “consistent”. We have lots of exciting things planned for the holiday season. I recently won the B.O.L.D. Award and I’m looking forward to our first partnership with the Texans and Coca-Cola. My fiancée and I have opened up a restaurant called Shelby’s Kitchen. The future is looking very promising and exciting. It’s truly a blessing.
