Today we’d like to introduce you to Landry Services Unlimited.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
We all have been asked, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” I had a dream of becoming a Marine Biologist so I could work at SeaWorld. Life has a funny way of redirecting you. Most importantly, God has a plan for everyone!
I began my career in accounting and finance in my early twenties after relocating from Louisiana to Texas. It was not my first choice to work as an accountant, but I needed a job while in college. My first accounting program was QuickBooks, which was very user-friendly. I remember the first time I processed payroll. I was trained on a Friday and expected to complete it by the following Tuesday. Talk about a tight deadline. Honestly, I was frightened, but one thing I do love is a challenge. I completed my task before my target date!
After working for 9 years, I decided to venture into accounting consulting. I posted an ad on Craigslist and waited nervously for responses. Within two weeks, I conducted my first consultation. It felt amazing to have the ability to set my own schedule and showcase my expertise. Unfortunately, I allowed my fears to overcome me and returned to a W2 position. This was the most regretful decision I made in my career.
Over the years, I gained experience in the following industries: Commercial & Residential Real Estate, Hospitality, HVAC, Manufacturing, Medical Devices, Non-Profit, Ocean Science, Oil & Gas, Property Management, and Transportation. One day I realized I was limiting my potential. Everything was so repetitive and I became bored. It was time to follow my vision. I returned to accounting consulting which gave me a drive I can’t describe. At that moment, Landry Services Unlimited was born.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As the saying goes, “When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade.” Well at times when life gives you lemons, you make a Lemon Drop Cocktail.
I faced many challenges throughout my career. From embarrassment to professional sabotage. Have you ever said something publicly that made you look incompetent? I bet I can top that! Early in my career, I was asked to attend a board meeting to discuss an upcoming RFP (Request For Proposal). My duties were to review the proposal, dissect the contractor’s requirements, and present it to our executives. One of our directors stated we would require new language for our quotation. My response was “Well, I only know English.” Dead silence which immediately erupted into hysterical laughter. I learned to take time to analyze the content of a statement before giving feedback.
Each position I acquired taught me valuable lessons. My upbringing was very sheltered, so I was not aware of how cruel people could be, especially on the job. Professional sabotage is common, but you must know how to counteract the negativity. I have been removed from projects, overlooked for promotion, given false information, belittled, and ostracized. One of my most memorable experiences was when the entire office personnel bullied me for over 3 months. I became extremely depressed and withdrawn which drastically affected my confidence. Finally, after speaking with my father, I put in my notice. The attacks escalated after it was revealed I would leave my position. Due to the toxic environment, I decided to depart a week early.
Suffering is a part of life, but you gain wisdom amid the struggle. I developed strength and perseverance. James 1:12 reads “Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised.” My trials and tribulations occurred so I could create Landry Services Unlimited. I am thankful before, during, and after the storm.

What does success mean to you?
My definition of success is constantly evolving. Early in my life, I based my success on money and prestige. It was foolish of me to have such an arrogant perception. As I gained wisdom, I began to understand success is about working hard, obtaining knowledge, and making a difference. I remember a conversation in which an individual told me I could not change the world. My response was, “Yes, I can change the world, one person at a time.” Many have been programmed to correlate materialism with success. This is a false reality. If I assist a client in lowering their tax liability or educate them on their financial statements while generating income, that is a success. When I engage in a conversation with a stranger and make them laugh, that is a success. Volunteering for a charitable cause is a success. I learned to congratulate myself and others regularly because we put forth an effort to achieve favorable outcomes in our pursuits. My challenge to my readers is to call, text, or email someone and tell them “Congratulations, just for being you.”
