Community Highlights: Meet LAURA OCANDO of BESOCIALWITHLAURA, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to LAURA OCANDO.

Hi LAURA, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey started in a completely different place. I worked for several years at a daycare as a Lead Teacher, and although I loved the experience and everything I learned along the way, there was always a part of me that felt I was meant to do something of my own. I wanted to create something different, something that would allow me to use my creativity and build something from the ground up.
One day, I decided to take that idea seriously. I knew I had a natural ability to design, create content, communicate, and become the voice behind a business. I knew there was so much potential within me—I just had to figure out how to bring it out and turn it into something real.
So, I started researching and learning everything I could about social media management. I spent about six months planning, organizing my ideas, developing my services and packages, and figuring out how I wanted to present myself to potential clients. I was not only building a business; I was also discovering my own voice.
I truly believe that every business has its own voice, personality, and essence. During those months, I was learning how to help other businesses find theirs while, at the same time, finding my own.
It was definitely a scary decision. I had a lot of doubts and fears, but I also knew that if I never took the risk, I would never know what I was capable of. So, I took that leap of faith, opened my own business, and left my job.
Since May 2024, I have been fully dedicated to social media management and content creation. Along the way, I have also had the opportunity to work as a wedding and event content creator, which has allowed me to combine my creativity, passion, and love for storytelling in a completely different way.
And that is how BeSocialWithLaura was born. What started as an idea I was afraid to pursue has become a business that allows me to help other entrepreneurs and businesses show up online, tell their stories, and connect with their audiences in an authentic way. I am still growing, still learning, and still discovering new possibilities—but today, I can confidently say that taking that first step was one of the best decisions I have ever made.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the biggest obstacles I have faced throughout my journey has been what is commonly known as imposter syndrome—that feeling of not believing you are capable enough, questioning whether you are doing things right, or wondering if people actually like and appreciate your work.
Even when people would tell me that they loved what I was creating and that I was doing a great job, there was still a voice in my head telling me otherwise. I would question myself, my abilities, and whether I was truly good enough.
Thankfully, I have received such positive feedback and support from my clients and the businesses I have had the opportunity to work with. That encouragement has helped me recognize that sometimes the biggest obstacle is not the lack of ability, but the way we see ourselves.
Looking back, I can definitely say that imposter syndrome has been one of the biggest challenges I have faced, but it has also taught me to trust myself, recognize my value, and keep moving forward even when I don’t feel completely confident.

We’ve been impressed with BESOCIALWITHLAURA, LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I specialize in social media management, which means I take an Instagram, Facebook, or TikTok account—whether it is brand new or has been around for a while—and turn it into the perfect storefront where new people can discover the business and find exactly what they are looking for.
I focus on highlighting their services and products, staying consistent with their content, responding to comments, and creating organic and creative content that connects with people and helps build a community around the brand.
I also specialize in content creation, where businesses, individuals, events, and couples hire me to capture the details, emotions, and special moments of their events. This includes working as a wedding and event content creator, creating authentic content that allows people to relive those moments and share them with their audience.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I believe what has truly defined me throughout this journey is that I am organized, determined, and consistent. No matter how many obstacles or challenges I have faced, I have continued to show up.
There have definitely been moments when things have felt difficult or uncertain, but God has given me the strength to persist, keep moving forward, and continue showing up behind the camera every single day.
I think consistency has been one of the most important parts of my journey. You may not always see the results immediately, but when you continue showing up, learning, creating, and believing in what you are building, eventually you begin to see how far you have come.
