Hi Lency, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Lency, and I’m the founder of MirKai Marketing. I’m a proud second-generation Cuban who started this journey in 2013 when I moved to Houston. English is my second language, so learning to communicate in a new country wasn’t easy. I struggled at first, but I stayed determined. Every challenge pushed me to grow, and I realized that hard work and passion can open doors anywhere.
I found my passion in helping entrepreneurs take their businesses to the next level online. When I started working in sales and marketing, I discovered how powerful storytelling and strategy can be. I earned my degree in Business and Marketing, and along the way, I realized that helping small business owners grow online was my true calling.
I first experienced this when I helped my mom with her hair salon. Growing up, I watched her pour her heart into every client, always giving to her community with love and dedication. When I learned about digital marketing, I wanted to help her reach more people. Watching her business grow through simple online strategies showed me that marketing isn’t just about getting attention, it’s about helping someone turn their passion into something bigger.
Since then, I’ve dedicated my work to helping entrepreneurs build strong brands and marketing plans through SEO, content, email, and social media. Over the last three years, I’ve helped several business owners get more leads, show up on Google, and create brands that genuinely reflect who they are.

Looking ahead, I’m excited to keep helping small businesses succeed while mentoring other entrepreneurs who are building their dreams from the ground up. I want to create tools and resources that make marketing easy to understand, from SEO and email to brand strategy and social media, so every business owner can grow with confidence.
My journey, from learning English to building my own business has taught me that growth happens outside of your comfort zone. I’m grateful for every challenge, every lesson, and every person I’ve met along the way. And I hope my story shows others that it doesn’t matter where you start, what matters is the heart, resilience, and purpose you bring to the journey.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Moving to a new country and learning English as my second language was a huge challenge. I had to adapt to a completely new culture while figuring out how to communicate and pursue my goals at the same time.
Starting a business came with its own struggles too, from learning the ins and outs of marketing to finding clients and proving myself in a competitive industry. I also had moments of self-doubt, wondering if I was making the right decisions or if I was capable of growing a business from scratch.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that growth comes from trusting yourself, being patient and disciplined, and valuing the support of a strong community. I’ve grown from doubting my abilities to making confident decisions, taking risks, and collaborating with like-minded people. Every challenge has taught me that staying true to your vision and working consistently, while learning from others, is what leads to progress.
