Community Highlights: Meet Lori Olson of The Beauty Boost Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lori Olson

Hi Lori, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Four years ago, I packed up my family of four (plus adorable fur-baby) and moved from the midwest to North Houston, fully excited for our new chapter! But life had a series of unexpected plot twists I didn’t see coming, especially in the realm of making new friends and forming those oh-so-meaningful bonds.

Texans embraced us with wide-open arms, but building a close-knit tribe felt overwhelming, especially during the challenging pandemic times. It was a rollercoaster of emotions for all of us and I knew I wasn’t alone in this…

And then a couple year later, I learned about The Beauty Boost from a friend that was a city owner in another state. In learning the mission: To help women feel empowered, health and beautiful, I was immediately drawn to learn more.

Picture empowerment workshops, fitness events, day retreats, and social hangouts that fill your cup. A community that is all about forging real bonds and cozying up to that sense of belonging you’ve been craving. It’s about finding your squad, whether you’re a local gal since birth or a transplant like me, and cultivating a hype crew that always has your back and boosts your self-assurance.

I so wanted to be a part of THAT.

Come to find out, Houston did not have a city owner (waaaa!)….but that ended up being my cue to get the party started here in H-Town! I mean if I really want it, why not be the one to bring it here? After all The Beauty Boost is a safe place where women’s stories mix and mingle + we cheer on boss babes and women-owned gems that make Houston special and unique. So I jumped in with both feet and said, “Let’s go girls!”

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’ve faced some unique challenges, especially being new to the Houston area myself. Establishing a community-focused business in a city that was still new to me made it vital to build authentic relationships from the ground up. One of the early hurdles was finding people who genuinely connect with our mission and are ready to grow this together. Casting a vision to women and local businesses before we even held our first event required persistence and lots of belief! There’s an art to inviting others to believe in something that doesn’t yet exist, and I’m incredibly grateful for those who took that leap of faith with me. The process of creating this supportive space for women here has involved not just overcoming logistical challenges but also inspiring others to share in the journey and purpose we’re building. Thankfully I can say that it has all been incredibly worth it and our support and guidance at the national level is absolutely priceless!

As you know, we’re big fans of The Beauty Boost Houston. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
The Beauty Boost Houston is more than just women’s events; it’s a community that brings like-minded women together to connect, support, and uplift each other. At our core, we’re dedicated to empowering women in every facet of their lives. We organize unique events and experiences that prioritize health, wellness, natural beauty and personal growth, creating a fun and supportive environment where women can grow and thrive together.

What sets us apart is our holistic approach—we don’t just focus on fitness or beauty in isolation. Instead, we offer a wide range of events that cater to every aspect of a woman’s life, from fitness events, day retreats, socials, empowerment workshops to even professional networking events from our sister company, “TBB BIZ”. We’re known for fostering genuine connections, making sure every woman feels seen and valued. As someone new to Houston, I’m proud of the supportive network we’ve built, not only for women looking to enhance their health and well-being but also for those who want to contribute to a positive and inspiring community.

What I’m most proud of is our authenticity. We stay true to our mission of inclusivity and genuine connection, helping each woman find her place and voice within the community. For anyone interested in attending The Beauty Boost events, we offer a variety of experiences—from fitness gatherings and self-care events to workshops and retreats—all designed to help women step confidently into their best selves. And for aligned local businesses we help them gain exposure by their target audience – our women!

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
For anyone starting out, my best advice is to lean into your mission and stay authentic to your values. Building a business, especially one centered on community and wellness, takes time and resilience. One thing I wish I’d fully realized when I started was just how important it is to find others who align with your mission and vision. Don’t be afraid to reach out to people who share your passion—even if your business is just beginning. The right connections make a world of difference and can help carry your vision forward when the journey feels uncertain.

Another key piece of advice is to embrace patience. Growth doesn’t happen overnight, and the beginning stages often require you to cast a vision that others may not immediately understand. Focus on building genuine connections, as these relationships are foundational to your growth. And, above all, remember that each challenge is an opportunity to learn and grow. Every step, even the difficult ones, will shape you and strengthen your business.
