Today we’d like to introduce you to Luis Maria.
Hi Luis, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hello, my name is Luis Maria aka Lucky I’m 26 years old, born and raised in Houston, Texas. My love for technology started early from watching my brother build our first PC to jailbreaking PSPs and iPhones in middle school. In High School I started to dabble into the repair side and have been repairing devices for friends and family ever since. Last month marked the 5th year that I started my own electronics repair business. Also last month I made the best decision of my life by starting a TikTok account. Since then, I’ve gained over 50 thousand followers and 12 million views! It’s been a blessing and I hope to take advantage of this opportunity to grow my business.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It hasn’t been easy. I’ve had some rough times as this has been my only stream of income since I started. I’ll have slow weeks and even months sometimes, but I’ve always found a way to keep pushing.
We’ve been impressed with NotSoLucky Electronics Repair, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I fix most electronics, phones, computers, tablets, gaming consoles, etc. I love the way I’ve gone about running my business. Most people know about me just from word of mouth, so when they come to me they know exactly what to expect. I have whole families that come to me and I’m their sole repair guy. I pride myself in being transparent, doing things the right way and in the most cost-effective manner possible. I’m only 26, but I’ve been doing this for over 10 years!
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I wouldn’t consider myself as much of a risk taker, because when I started my business I had nothing to lose and little responsibility. Don’t get me wrong I didn’t have any financial backing whatsoever as I was raised by a single mother, and we struggled throughout my childhood. But I didn’t have any financial responsibility, so I was able to start my business with the few hundred dollars I managed to gather in hopes that I could better our situation. Honestly though when it comes to your dreams the only 2 things you’re risking when chasing them is sleep, and the possibility of not making it. So as a wise man once said, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”
