Today we’d like to introduce you to Mangesh Chaudhari.
Hi Mangesh, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
My name is Mangesh Chaudhari, originally from Mumbai India, came to USA in 2008 to pursue my PhD in Chemical engineering. After graduating from Tulane University, I worked with Sandia National laboratory and then moved to Houston area in 2017.
Prairie View, Cricket Complex project, started in 2018 when Tanweer Ahmed bought 86 acres land in Prairie View and asked me to build Cricket grounds there. Tanweer Ahmed is owner of Prairie View Cricket Complex and Houston Hurricanes (professional cricket sports team in Houston). We built 6 cricket fields and working with Major league cricket and USA Cricket to develop the sports in this country.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not, cricket is not a well-known sports in this country, so most of our work starts with basic explanation of cricket to non-playing population.
Sometimes we struggle to explain the cities the importance of this game but then the community helps us out tremendously. They rally support to make sure local government understands the game and supports our endeavors.
Overall, we are happy with our progress and willing to go big in coming years.
As you know, we’re big fans of Houston Hurricanes and Ownership Group. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
Houston Hurricanes and Ownership Group has invested in cricket teams and infrastructure in the USA and abroad. We partnered with Major league cricket and hosting countries first commercial cricket league in 2023.
USA is also hosting Cricket World Cup in 2024, and we are integral part of making this event successful.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
For us, finding a mentor was little challenging, so we have to look outside of country and use our connections to find right mentors who knew about cricket and professional development of players.
