Hi Marcus , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey into the travel industry wasn’t a traditional one. Before becoming a travel entrepreneur, I spent 18 years working as an Anesthesia Technician in the operating room. While I enjoyed helping people, I always had a passion for travel and creating unforgettable experiences.
In 2014, I took a leap of faith and founded Impressive Travels. What started as a side business quickly grew through hard work, exceptional customer service, and a commitment to doing things differently. My philosophy has always been simple: we don’t just plan vacations—we create experiences.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of building one of the top-producing luxury travel agencies in the country. I’ve been recognized as United Vacations Agent of the Year for multiple consecutive years, earned Diamond Elite status with KHM Travel Group, and serve on both the KHM and GTM/Northstar advisory boards, where I help shape the future of the travel industry through leadership and diversity initiatives.
Along the way, I also became a travel content creator and influencer, using social media to inspire others to explore the world. My content has reached millions of people, allowing me to showcase destinations while building trust with travelers who want authentic recommendations.
Like many entrepreneurs, my journey hasn’t been without challenges. Balancing business growth, personal loss, and life’s obstacles has only strengthened my purpose. Today, I’m passionate about helping clients experience the world, mentoring other travel advisors, and proving that with vision, consistency, and faith, it’s possible to turn a passion into a thriving business and meaningful career.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many small business owners, I’ve faced my share of challenges. The biggest was the COVID-19 pandemic. Overnight, the travel industry came to a standstill. Trips were canceled, borders closed, and instead of planning vacations, I spent countless hours helping clients process refunds, credits, and rebookings. Financially and emotionally, it was one of the toughest periods of my career, but it taught me resilience, patience, and the importance of putting my clients first even when it meant there was little to no income coming in.
After the industry began to recover, inflation and the current economy created another set of challenges. Rising travel costs and tighter household budgets meant travelers became more cautious about spending. That forced me to become even more creative, helping clients maximize their budgets while still delivering incredible experiences and showing them the value of investing in travel.
Those difficult seasons ultimately made my business stronger. They taught me how to adapt, diversify my services, build stronger relationships with my clients, and never stop evolving. Today, those experiences have helped shape me into a better entrepreneur, advisor, and leader, and they’ve reinforced my belief that challenges don’t define your success how you respond to them does.

One of the things I’m most proud of is the community we’ve built through travel. Our hosted group experiences have brought together people from all walks of life who often leave as lifelong friends. Watching clients celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, and personal milestones around the world is incredibly rewarding because we know we played a part in creating memories that will last forever.

What are your plans for the future?
The future is incredibly exciting for Impressive Travels. Our vision has always been bigger than booking vacations we’re focused on creating unforgettable travel experiences while continuing to expand our global footprint and strategic partnerships.
One of the projects I’m most excited about is the continued growth of our Hip-Hop Party Boat experience in the Dominican Republic. After a successful launch, we’re working to make it one of the premier excursions for travelers visiting Punta Cana. It’s more than just a boat party it’s an immersive experience featuring music, entertainment, great food, premium drinks, and an atmosphere that brings people together from all over the world.
We’re also expanding our network of partnerships with Black-owned businesses throughout the Caribbean and Mexico. Collaborating with companies like High Vibez in Playa del Carmen and Black Zama in Tulum allows us to provide our clients with authentic, culturally rich experiences while supporting entrepreneurs who are making an impact in tourism. These partnerships enable us to offer exclusive events, curated excursions, and one-of-a-kind experiences our clients won’t find anywhere else.
As a brand, we’re continuing to grow our hosted group travel experiences, destination events, and luxury travel offerings while reaching even more travelers through content creation and social media. My goal is to inspire people to travel beyond their comfort zones, experience different cultures, and see the world in a meaningful way.
I’m also passionate about mentoring the next generation of travel advisors and continuing my leadership within the travel industry. Through education, advocacy, and collaboration, I want to help create more opportunities for diverse voices and entrepreneurs in travel.
Ultimately, I want Impressive Travels to become one of the most recognized and respected luxury travel brands in the country not just because of the destinations we sell, but because of the experiences we create, the relationships we build, and the positive impact we make on both our clients and the communities we partner with around the world.
