Community Highlights: Meet Matthew Alfaro of Thrive4Performance

Today we’d like to introduce you to Matthew Alfaro.

Matthew, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
To begin, I have always been surrounded by the fitness industry. I come from a family that is committed to leading a healthy, balanced lifestyle. I began playing baseball at an early age. I then went on to play high school and collegiate baseball. I had the pleasure to work with Elev8 Performance in Laredo, Texas, during my college baseball years, where I got experience training high school, college, and professional athletes. After two years there, I decided to go out and start training on my own. Starting with no clients, I began networking and eventually created a client list of over 100 before launching my own company, Thrive4Performance.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Although the fitness sector will always be volatile, I have had the opportunity to grow at a slow pace during my journey. There have been rough months but through hard work and consistency, I have been able to break through any obstacle that comes my way.

We’ve been impressed with Thrive4Performance, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Thrive4Performance began as an online personal training service that offered customized fitness programs and meal planning. We started offering in-person training a few months ago, where we go straight to our clients and train them for 45 minutes, followed by 15 minutes of recovery.

What sets us unique from the competition is that we train in two different methods. They can either train with us online or we may come to them. We design our clients’ programs based on a questionnaire about their lifestyle and desired outcomes.

We specialize in the following:

Weight Loss
Sport Performance
Strength & Conditioning
Hybrid Training
Nutrition
Power Building
Bodybuilding
Injury prevention training
Personal training for seniors
Prenatal & Postnatal Training

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I’m a finance major at the University of Houston, which some people may not know. My company is developing slowly but steadily, and we are on course to become Houston’s largest personal training service.
