Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Brumfield
Hi Michael, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My story’s pretty wild. I started out in Seattle, Washington, but I wanted to take things to the next level. So, we packed up and moved to Houston, Texas, chasing bigger opportunities and a fresh start.
It all began with drawing cartoons—just sketching for fun. Once I got to a point where I thought, Hey, I’m actually kinda good at this, I felt like I could do anything. I’ve always had a thing for making people look and sound their best, so I jumped into photography, then graphic design. That turned into running a record label, then even designing clothes.
For a while, I was doing it all – a real jack-of-all-trades, master of none.
Why film? Honestly, at that point in my life, I was just chasing the process – watching an idea go from nothing to something. That’s what always hooked me, no matter what I was creating. An artist has to take a vision from start to finish, and when I picked up a camera, something just clicked. The way a single frame could tell a story, the way light and movement could shape emotion – I fell in love with it.
And now? This is it. Videography and cinematography aren’t just what I do—they’re who I am.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Has it been a smooth road? No, not even close. But honestly, I’m thankful for that. The struggles, the setbacks—they forced me to learn in real time, to adapt, to keep pushing even when it felt impossible.
One of the hardest parts? I had to teach myself everything—every skill, every technique. No mentors, no shortcuts, just trial and error. And just when I thought I was getting somewhere, a fire tore through everything I had built. Years of work, my entire setup—gone in an instant. It felt like losing a part of myself.
But somehow, I kept going. I had to.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We truly care about the work we create. I handle the filming and editing, and if you know me, you know I’m always carrying a camera – it’s just part of who I am.
For me, it’s all about quality over quantity. I take my time to make sure every project is done right, and I love seeing clients not only get their work back on time but be genuinely excited because it exceeds their expectations.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Honestly, I’m not sure where the industry will be in 5–10 years. But one thing’s certain – AI will play a big role, especially in editing. It’ll likely prioritize speed and efficiency over creativity, shifting the balance between artistry and productivity. Just a wild guess.
