Today we’d like to introduce you to Nancy Lara.
Hi Nancy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
My name is Nancy Lara! I graduated from the University of Houston with a bachelor’s degree in accounting — right around the same time that I started a family. For most of my life, I have cherished being a stay-at-home mom, an HISD community-outreach mentor to young girls, and the owner of a small jewelry business.
When my youngest, Armando II, started driving, I knew it was time to start thinking about the next step. Every morning during my workouts, I kept finding myself asking the same question: What can I do that brings a benefit to others, too?
For as long as I can remember, my advice to loved ones experiencing stressful or difficult times has always been to start working out. One day, it all clicked. I realized that my answer had been there with me at every early morning workout. My next step would need to relate to helping others unlock the healing powers of exercise!
Working out brings a better version of ourselves out in every way. Whether your fitness goals involve physical, mental, or emotional strength, when our members walk out of this gym after class happier than when they walked in, they let me know that I am aligned with my purpose.
Watching out members become the best version of themselves makes all the difference. I can’t wait to keep cheering on their growth!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Definitely not! First I had to learn about a totally new industry, from how to get new prospects to how to convince them that this is the best investment they can do.
Second, I had to find a location and starting the construction itself; constructions materials, weather, and city permits were a whole new topic itself.
And third, I think it’s the most important thing was hiring the right people. Fortunately for us, we got the best team to build the community we always dreamt about

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you, and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Even though we were not open at that moment of the Covid crisis, we learned that we must work to stay patient and strong to respond to a health crisis. Health was our main concern. Emotional and physical health. Emotionally we needed to stay positive and optimistic that things were gonna get better. Our physical health was crucial to help us not only to have a stronger body but to have a stronger mind, to stay resilient because when we work out, our bodies release endorphins, the happiness hormones. And we needed that to calm ourselves and to stay positive.
