Nicola, Chioma and Amoni, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hairminq Extensions (formerly known as Bundle Queens) was created in 2018 by three friends and born out of a desire to cater to the kind of woman we’ve coined the “MINQ” woman: the Modern, Impeccable, Notable and Quintessential woman. A woman just like us! We are all wives, mothers, career and businesswomen with a love for all things hair, fashion, and beauty. One day Chioma Ajayi approached us with the idea of partnering together and opening a hair extensions company and being hair and wig lovers and wearers anyway, we instantly fell in love with the idea. From there, our company was born!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
A big obstacle that we continually face is that nowadays the hair industry is very saturated. It seems like everyone is selling hair extensions and it’s very difficult especially as an online store to really show your clients that your hair quality is more superior to the next company’s product. The difference with Hairminq is that we go the extra step to personally test the quality of any hair that we are considering purchasing from a vendor by actually wearing samples of the hair ourselves. We believe that if it’s not good enough for us to rock it, then it’s definitely not good enough to sell to our clients!
Another obstacle is that the hair industry supply chain was severely affected by COVID, as most industries were. We encountered low supply and low demand during COVID, as clients were not going anywhere and therefore did not see the need to buy hair. Additionally, previous clients were satisfied with having those one or two wigs they already owned that they could use for zoom calls during the time everyone worked from home. Thankfully as restrictions are now lifting and people are going back to their pre-COVID lives, things have turned around and the business is thriving!
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Hairminq Extensions knows that despite always have a long to-do list, never-ending chores, and a thousand places to be at one time, most women place high value in looking polished and put-together at all times. We pride ourselves in providing our clients with superior quality and long-lasting extensions and wigs that are meticulously sourced and last for several years with proper care. Our hair is 100% human and does not tangle or shed. We carry a variety of textures that will appeal to anyone.
