Today we’d like to introduce you to Norma Jean Wilson.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was being prepared as a little girl for where I am today, and didn’t even know it. My grandma would always have me speak at family functions such as family reunions, speak at church or prayer meetings. I always knew I enjoyed uplifting, encouraging, and motivating people. When I was younger friends and family members would come to me for advice, prayer and encouragement. It was just something that came natural to me and I enjoyed doing. I even started a young girls’ group with all my younger cousins and my daughter. Fast forward I worked in medical administration for over 15 years. I enjoyed it because I was helping people, but I never felt fulfilled and I knew I was supposed to be doing something different. So in 2019, I posted a Facebook post asking if women needed a safe space to talk with someone and work through their goals. A young woman from Las Vegas answered my post and she became my first Life Coaching client. At that moment I knew I wanted to be a Life Coach and a Motivational Speaker. I was her life coach for over a year and helped her with her life goals until she was confident enough to start her own hair business. I flew out to Las Vegas where she lived to celebrate the opening of her business. I get so much joy out of helping people I knew this was my purpose in life. In March of 2021 is when I started NormaJean Motivates. My own personal business to help motivate people through my platform I host networking and motivational events. And in July of 2021, I got certified as a Life Coach.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
it has definitely not been a smooth road. My struggles started young being a teen mom. I had twins at the age of 17 years old, my 3rd child at 21 and got married. So I had to grow up fast being a mom but it taught me strength. Five years later I found myself divorced with 3 kids. But I wanted to show my kids even know I was young, we was going to make it. So I raised 3 kids being a single mother. And overcame in doubt I had.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
NormaJean Motivates is a Life Coaching and Motivational Speaking business. I am a Certified Life Coach and Motivational Speaker. I will help you manifest your purpose in life. I offer 1 on 1 coaching sessions and group sessions. Currently, I offer a weekly Monday Motivation group session every Monday virtually. Also a part of my business I host networking and motivational events. What sets me apart from others is I am an Empowerment specialist I empower both men and women. My brand is to empower and uplift people. I have a saying if I can help just one person then I know my Iiving is not in vain. I am I’m here to help all people both men and women and I want them to know that the space that they carry in this world is more than enough. I just completed a 3 city tour Vegas, Houston, and Atlanta. It was a Boss Brunch and its purpose was to provide women tools to be successful in their business and personal life. In July of this year, I will host a Knowledge Fest event in Minneapolis for men and women and the theme will be we are Elevating on Purpose.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
In the next 5-10 years, I see more Life Coaches and people helping people. We all need a little encouragement.
