Today we’d like to introduce you to Nyteasha Mobley.
Hi Nyteasha, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
H.B.N. Clothing Brand was established from a hookah business that I started a year ago. The idea of starting an actual hookah clothing line generated from walking into multiple stores shopping and not really seeing anything that expresses the love for hookah. My plan was to change the fashion business by starting something new and pushing the relevance of smoking hookah and also pushing the idea of “expression”. A lot of people ask, “what does H.B.N. stands for?” Well it can mean anything you want it to mean, like “How Bout Now” or “Hookahs By Na.” This clothing brand is an expression and I plan to expand it in many different ways beyond hookahs. It will be a clothing brand that allows people to express their passions that many other people judge.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Owning a clothing brand often comes with patience and money. The patience part of it requires you to have a lot of faith in your product and your brand. You cannot expect to grow sales immediately after your brand is released to the public; unless you have the connections or if you have a need base product. Once those two ideas are fulfilled, then you began to see more results and immediate feedback. I have run into a lot of struggles throughout releasing H.B.N Clothing Brand. One of the struggles I encountered has been getting more people to see my product and actually want to buy it. Nowadays quality is much better than quantity; with that being said I had to put in a lot of time and money into my clothing brand. Because of the huge investment, I had to enhance my price to a different diaphragm; which then makes people not want to buy the product. It is extremely hard when you have to make sure your financially gaining and make the customers happy at the same time. You feel like you’re in between a rock and a hard place. However, I believe through time and patience, things will begin to shift for you and you began to find out the “lane” you’re supposed to be in. But, it has not been smooth at all.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
When it comes to my clothing brand I really would like people to see the creative side of the designs. One of the designs has a man smoking hookah and the other design has a woman smoking hookah. These designs implement the black culture of hookah smoking. We all know that hookah was originated from an Indian culture, however, it has risen throughout the USA towards the Black and the Hispanic culture. What I would love people to know is that this clothing brand is trying to bring forth the likeness of hookah. If you go to stores on 4/20 you see a lot of clothes that are marijuana-based, but we do not see many clothing brands being able to express the love of hookah. I want people to see the value of hookah the same way they see the value of marijuana. I also own a mobile hookah catering business, whereas I commute to many different states and offer a high-quality of hookah service. That business is called Hookahs By Na (spelled out completely). What sets me apart from others would be: my customer service, my clothing brand, my keen eye to spread the wealth and knowledge of owning a hookah business or setting up hookahs within your own home and my love for others no matter your race, sexuality or how much money you may have. I started this clothing brand to bring forth a love that the Black and Hispanic cultures may have, however, I would love for my products to be attainable for everyone. I am most proud that I was able to complete this goal which I have set for myself 3 years ago and I can finally say that “I did it!.” This clothing brand is for everyone so please feel free to reach out to me.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
What is the most surprising thing that people may not know about me is that I am still at the bottom when it comes to expanding this clothing brand. And through my mom’s death of cancer last year (2021), I have to always keep pushing myself because she would not have wanted me to give up. I have a lot of people who are despise of my achievements, my love that I offer to others and my passion to see others grow with my help. I was raised by a single parent, and now that parent is gone. So I am often trying to find ways to accomplish different goals and reach new levels in order to keep pushing forward. I loved to make my mother proud of me, but now I am doing this for myself and making sure I am happy.
