Oluwaseunfunmi, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
After the birth of my second child in 2019, I embraced the role of a stay-at-home mom and rediscovered my passion for cooking and creating delicious beverages. During the COVID-19 pandemic, while residing in Seattle, Washington, I focused on strengthening my family’s health and well-being through traditional remedies. One of such remedies was Zobo, a hibiscus drink with immune-boosting properties. The positive feedback from friends and family inspired my husband and me to explore the potential of the drink as a business venture, catering to the growing African community in the area.
Relocating to Houston, Texas, we recognized the thriving market for authentic cultural flavors. Driven by a personal craving for traditional Nigerian yogurt, I embarked on a journey to recreate this beloved treat that quickly became a hit with my family and friends as it captured the authentic taste of my homeland. Recognizing the demand for this unique product, my husband and I decided to include the yogurt in the business line, offering a taste of home to those who shared our craving and the wider community.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Our journey to launch this business has certainly not been without its challenges. Balancing work, school, and family demands while launching a new venture has been no easy feat. However, our unwavering faith in God has been our guiding light.
In the beginning stage of this business, we dedicated significant time to perfecting our product, from the taste and design to the packaging. While this took longer than anticipated, it was essential for ensuring the highest quality and has laid a solid foundation for our business.
While our business is still in its early stages, we remain steadfast in our pursuit of success. With God’s guidance and renewed strength, we are confident in our ability to overcome any obstacles that may arise. As the scripture from Isaiah 40:31 reminds us, ‘But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.’
This verse serves as our mantra, inspiring us to persevere and continue pushing forward

We currently offer two styles and six flavors of our drinks.
1. Hibiscus Drink (Zobo Classic and Zobo Ginger Special)
2. Yogurt (Pain sweetened, Strawberry, Banana, and Vanilla)
Pricing varies from store to store but the standard price is currently at $5 for our 12oz bottles and $3 for our 8oz bottles also known as our party size.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I believe that a combination of factors has contributed to my success. Trusting in God for guidance and strength, coupled with hard work, perseverance, and the unwavering support of my loved ones, has been invaluable. Additionally, I’m committed to delivering the highest quality products, from the packaging to the taste. This dedication to excellence ensures that my customers receive exceptional value for their investment
