Hi Rey, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m Rey Manzano, the proud owner of Triple M Mobility. I look forward to sharing my story. I hope you will enjoy getting to know me better. My family started a medical supply business in the early 2000 “s, and I began getting involved as I had some sales and technical experience. At the time, we noticed a demand for mobility scooters and power wheelchairs. Although many medical suppliers provided these units, most of them did not have a repair center. I met many people who owned these devices which weren’t in working condition, and they were clueless about repairing them. While delivering medical supplies, I met a disabled lady, completely dependent on her power wheelchair, but the chair was not working. She tried for months to find someone to repair it but had no luck. When I fixed this elderly lady’s chair, she cried tears of joy because she was independent again. This touched me, and I immediately understood my calling. These machines operate on rechargeable batteries with multiple electrical components that require regular servicing. I found that very few companies had the skills to service these units and decided to get certified with some of the manufacturers of scooters and power wheelchairs. I then started a repair service center for power wheelchairs and scooters. I have been handling Mobility scooters and wheelchair repairs for more than a decade now, having started out in 2004. Back in the day, it was easier to get power wheelchairs and scooters through medical insurance. Today, it is much harder as there are stricter criteria and a larger number of people directly purchasing them.
All the same, I work with my clients to push for getting the clearances required. I believe what sets me apart is my trust, loyalty, care, and the basic concept of, ‘we will be there, and not leave you out in the cold.’ Seeing happy customers is the best part of running a business. There is no way to describe the joy one feels after giving someone back their independence. I have to attribute all of my success to God and feel strongly about peace and love, and there isn’t enough of either of the two in this world. Every entrepreneur needs a break, and when I am not at work, I resell the merchandise, work on inner change and try to be a better person through reading and studying new things. I have enjoyed sharing my story about the things which matter to me and how they influence the way I do business. Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been very challenging, especially in the beginning, but our dedication to assisting those who are disabled have been the force to drive us forward and stay strong through the bumpy journey. There is a demand to assist those dependent on these mobility units. The sad part is that we do not see them because most of us in our busy lifestyle cannot see those who are stuck at home. without no one to assist them.
