Hi Telless, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started my career in venture capital and private equity operations, helping firms manage investor relations, compliance, and fund administration. That experience gave me a clear view of how businesses grow, what investors actually look for, and where business owners often struggle behind the scenes.
After several years consulting for venture and small business clients, I decided to build something of my own. I’d been using AI to streamline my own workflows and saw how powerful it could be when combined with solid operations and finance fundamentals. So, I turned it into a service for other business owners.
Today, through Cade & Co., I work with businesses to improve their revenue systems, implement AI into their workflows, and prepare for growth or exit. It’s a blend of my background in finance and my interest in technology. It’s hands-on work that matters, helping real businesses get results.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No. I’ve been freelancing for the last 2 years. The thing with freelancing is you’re constantly iterating to find the best path forward. It forces you to learn lots of new things in a very timely fashion. However, it leaves you being a jack of all trades but a master of none. It can be hard to focus on a subset or discipline when you have skills in a variety of different avenues. So, in a nutshell, that’s the hardest part: transitioning from a freelancer to a business owner.

My wife. She has had the utmost patience with me as I figure out my entrepreneurial path. It’s not easy to be married to an entrepreneur, but she does it with so much grace and poise. I’m truly blessed to have her in my life.
