Community Highlights: Meet Zach Spruill of Zach Spruill Entertainment

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zach Spruill. Them and their team share their story with us below:

After completing his studies at the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music, Zach went on to gain extensive experience performing as a solo artist as well as part of jam bands, big bands, jazz combos, wind ensembles, and smaller chamber ensembles at venues large and small. He is an endorsing artist of Rovner ligatures (Maryland) and RS Berkeley Musical Instruments (New Jersey) and has been fortunate to work with some of the finest talents the music industry has to offer from Texas to the New England states and Los Angeles. He’s shared studios with producers, engineers, and musicians responsible for the success of Jason Mraz, Lifehouse, Prince, Usher, and more. Performing in a variety of different groups has placed him on stage with some of the greatest of today’s musicians including jazz greats Bill Evans, Vincent Herring, Conrad Herwig, and Jon Faddis as well as popular artists Edwin McCain, Green River Ordinance, Lucinda Williams, and more. Zach has performed on large stages like House of Blues and Hard Rock Cafe as well as smaller jazz clubs, major television networks like FOX, ABC, and CBS, and radio stations in South Texas and surrounding areas. Since 2008, he has found his niche providing special events throughout Texas and beyond with his own unique combination of live saxophone and DJ performance. From luxurious weddings to large corporate events, cocktail hours, and everything in between, demand for Zach’s special brand of musical talent continues to increase year over year.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Things weren’t always smooth, but I’ve always been tenacious and been able to handle a lot at once. Thinking back to my senior year at the University of Houston, I was taking 18 credit hours, working 40+ hours a week, and had a 1-year-old son at home all at the same time. That time period taught me a lot about myself and the lengths I was willing to go to in order to accomplish goals and be successful. Being successful in the music industry doesn’t come without its own set of challenges as well. Throughout my education, I was taught to perform well musically, but was not taught much in the way of how to turn those abilities into a successful business after I earned my degree. Fortunately, charisma, connections, and lots of self motivation allowed me to drastically evolve my knowledge of marketing and grow my own unique musical abilities as a business. After soaking in any and all information about succeeding in my particular industry like a sponge for many years, I can confidently consider myself a music industry business and marketing professional.

As you know, we’re big fans of Zach Spruill Entertainment.. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Since 2008, I found my niche providing special events throughout Texas and beyond with my own unique combination of live saxophone and DJ performance. From luxurious weddings to large corporate events, cocktail hours, and everything in between, my special brand of musical talent continues to increase in demand year over year. I’m able to help satisfy the musical needs of any size event from a simply cocktail hour to a full blown wedding day. While I’m a rare combination of sax player and DJ, what also sets me apart is my ability to provide all of the audio necessary for an entire wedding day (ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception) so that the bride and groom only have to deal with one vendor for all of their music and audio needs. Typically this involves me providing microphones for the speakers and music for the ceremony, live jazz saxophone for cocktail hour, and a combination of DJ and live saxophone for the reception. I thrive on client satisfaction and providing each and every event a 5-Star experience, and I’m proud to be able to use my unique abilities to make special moments in people’s lives that much more incredible.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
The music industry is ever evolving which is why it is so important to find your specific niche and make the most of it. For some musicians, that means playing publicly. For some, it means recording or building an online following. For others, like myself, special events are the bread and butter. Luckily for me, special events will always want live music, and I have developed an ability to provide a high quality musical experience at prices that people can afford.
