Community Highlights: Meet Zachary Johnson of ZEB Productions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zachary Johnson.

Hi Zachary, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
ZEB Productions LLC was first established on July 7th, 2020. I started playing music at the age of eight, and later received a music scholarship from Del Mar College, in Corpus Christi, TX. It was during my enrollment process that I noticed an opportunity to take an audio engineering course; thus beginning my interest in the art of recording music.

Eventually, I dropped out of college to join the United States Navy, where I served three years. Life-changing events during my time in the service led to me being diagnosed with PTSD; which made it difficult for me to maintain normal employment. During the struggle of transitioning back to civilian life, I went back to college full time, and began recording artists in my free time.

I was in the top 5% of my class until my second semester. Sadly, many students (including myself) were negatively affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, and our grades dropped below passing. This resulted in me dropping out of school once more, and making the decision to run a music studio full time. I legalized the company via LLC, and begin the assembly of the “ZEB PRO” team.

During the remainder of our time in Corpus Christi, the team successfully published and distributed multiple EPs and Albums for our first six signed artists. In October of 2021, the team began to search for better opportunities and more resources. After extensive research, we decided that Houston, TX would be the perfect location to begin our next chapter. Against all odds, we finally made the move to Houston in October of 2022.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has been a struggle to maintain a successful company during the covid-19 era. We had to adapt to the quarantine period, and the restrictions that came along with it, including major price drops. Not to mention the egos and dramatical stress that come with dealing with creative individuals; whether they be executives, team members, artists, or musicians. The personal life of each individual can easily affect the team. Finances are a main stress factor, granted the company was built out of the pockets of our team.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about ZEB Productions?
