Today we’d like to introduce you to Zachary Jones and Cody Stiff. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Lifelong friends Cody Stiff and Zach Jones came up with the idea of Houston Basketball Academy while they were students at the University of Houston. They both were aspiring high school basketball coaches, who at the time we’re just thinking of a way to help the young kids achieve their hoop dreams. They made a few moves at the time, but their academic responsibilities and career aspirations slowed down the progress of HBA coming into fruition. Fast forward a few years of excelling in their coaching careers, they decided to take the shot and officially start their Basketball training organization.
With the help of their brothers, Cody and Zach grew HBA and have now trained over 1,000 athletes and have helped many of them make their middle school/ high school teams or even play basketball collegiately. Their goal isn’t only to help athletes get better at basketball though. Houston Basketball Academy’s goal is to assist athletes on and off the court. Being that Cody and Zach are still high school teachers, their passion consists of guiding young people in the right direction, whether with or without a basketball. This Spring Houston basketball Academy will be going on its 4th year, and as they continue to grow, they continue to improve on helping each athlete on and off the court.

Houston Basketball Academy is a basketball skills development center that maximizes the potential of basketball players of all ages, genders, positions and talent levels. Our mission is to positively impact athletes both on and off the court.

One of our friends opened a basketball gym in Cypress, one of the first private basketball gyms ever in the Cypress area. Finding a gym was one of the biggest hurdles we had to get over, so that helped a lot.
