Today we’d like to introduce you to Ziad Taha. Them and their team share their story with us below:
When Ziad Taha, co-founder of Taha Spreads LLC, was 15, he and his family immigrated to the United States from Palestine. He got his first job at 15 and several years later he started his own Commercial cleaning business. Now in his mid-30s, he employs over 70 people. But Ziad and his wife Sabrina also love making food for family, friends and neighbors, especially Toum, a popular creamy, Middle Eastern garlic spread that’s made by emulsifying lots of garlic with salt, oil, and lemon or vinegar. It’s often used as a condiment for shawarma sandwiches or as a dip for kebabs
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been a fantastic journey so far. People seem to like our products. We are at 50% of returned customers weekly.
We’ve been impressed with Taha Spreads, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Taha Spreads makes authentic middle eastern spreads and dips. We are known for our Toum Spread which is a vegan garlic spread. Taha Spreads is the first to package Toum and offer it to the American public. Toum is a spread that is yet to be discovered in American cuisines. The idea of making Toum and offering to the public came after I heard some celebrity chefs speaking about that next middle eastern white garlic sauce which in the Levant area is called Toum. Our Toum sauce is dairy-free which makes it last a long time in the fridge. Toum could be eaten just like how you would eat Hummus,
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I enjoy risk taking. I know for a fact the results of taking a risk while you work hard towards it will pay off no matter what. Having pure intentions while taking the risk will ease the way. This is the 3rd business risk that I dived into without having any experience. So far, the risk has paid off.
