Conversations with the Inspiring Cassandra Ramirez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassandra Ramirez.

Cassandra, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Since I was a little girl, my parents owned their own graphics business. When my daughter turned one, I was finally ready to start working but I wasn’t quite ready to leave my baby girl. I started helping my parents with their designs and orders. Eventually, it leads to me finally starting my own business in 2017, Craftz by Cass, under my family’s legacy. It started with shirts, onesies, candy bags, and so much more. I can’t thank my customers enough for showing so much love and support. I really appreciate them recommending me to friends and family. If it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t be able to announce the opening of my new business location “P&T Graphics” located at 631 Uvalde Houston, Tx 77015 Suite C. It is family-owned, so it is run by me, my mom, and dad. This business will focus on bigger jobs such as Vehicle Wraps, Chanel Letters, Wall Wraps, Banners and so much more, so come check us out!

Has it been a smooth road?
I would have to say the biggest challenge when I first started taking orders was that I never required a deposit. I would simply accept their order, create a design and send a proof. Once the customer approved it, I would move on to making the shirt. When the customer was notified for their order pickup, they would never show up and I would get stuck with a custom order. That meant that not only my time and work were wasted but also material/money. At first, it was disappointing that some people simply didn’t care or understand the hard work and resources that go into an order, but you learn from your mistakes. I now established a policy that requires a 50% deposit before I start on any order. You have to protect the business you start.

The advice I have for new business owners is that there will always be competition. But to remember that competition is a good thing because it forces us to do our best and be better.

What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others?
I specialize in many things such as:
– Custom Shirts (Screen-printing, Embroidery, Sublimation & HTV)
-Banners
-Fatheads
-Decals/Stickers
-Business Cards/Flyers
-Magnets
I’m basically your one-stop-shop!

I would have to say I’m well known for following in my family’s footsteps. Many of my parent’s old clients have now started ordering from me.

I’m most proud of being able to grow as fast as I have and being able to follow my parents legacy so it doesn’t have to end with them.

I think the thing that sets me apart from others is the fact that this whole thing is bigger than just me. It’s something I get to share with my parents and I hope one day, I get to share it with my daughter. Graphic designing is something that I have grown to love and I have put blood, sweat, and tears, and a whole lot of hard work into.

It would be great to hear about any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve used and would recommend to others.
My favorite app is Instagram.
