Today we’d like to introduce you to Deanna Davis.
Deanna, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was raised in the small town of Caldwell, Texas. I attended Prairie View A&M University where I started studies in education. After attending a summer program at Baylor College of Dentistry, I realized what a wonderful career dentistry is. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in December of 2000 and spent the spring semester substitute teaching in Cy-Fair ISD. In the fall of 2001, I began my dental education at Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas. After graduating with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2005, I moved to Houston to start my career in dentistry.
I have served the Houston metroplex for over 13 years. In 2016, I made the best decision to open my own dental practice in Pearland, TX. I am passionate about giving patients a great dental experience and providing exceptional care. I value the importance of continuing education to ensure my patients are receiving the best care available. I love giving patients who once feared dental work, a new experience in which they now feel comfortable seeing me regularly. I seek to incorporate new technologies to continuously improve the patient experience.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road has had its challenges. There were financial struggles and emotional ones as well.
My advise is to start planning early where you see yourself financially early on. Make smart financial decisions and have a savings plan. Its never to early to seek the advise of a financial planner as well. Emotionally, my refuge has been God. I pray and constantly constantly encourage myself. I also have a great support system of family and friends. I shut out negativity and focus on positive things.
What should we know about Smile Village Dental Care? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am a Doctor of Dental Surgery, general dentistry. I love cosmetic dental transformations, orthodontics, and dental implantology. I am most proud of my work ethic. I love people and I love the relationships I build with my patients. I take what I do seriously and honestly want the best for my patients. The relationships I build and constant desire to learn set me apart in my professions.
Looking back on your childhood, what experiences do you feel played an important role in shaping the person you grew up to be?
My mother passed away when I was 7 years old. I was raised by my father, Calvin Davis, whom I love dearly.
He raised me to be very independent. I worked by his side in his lawn care business growing up and learned how to have a very strict work ethic. I also learned how to communicate with people and develop relationships.
