Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Yolanda Sherman.
As Founder and Executive Director of Break Free Release Ministries (2007), Yolanda Sherman has inspired many to embrace spiritual change and live a more fulfilling life, free from bondage. Yolanda is a licensed Christian Counselor, board certified by the National Association of Christian Counselors. Yolanda is an ordained, licensed minister. Yolanda holds a PhD in Christian Education, a doctoral degree and a master’s degree in Christian Counseling from Juliana King University and an affiliate of the University of Family Bible Institute College and Seminary. She also received a bachelor’s in 2012 in Christian Counseling from International Kingdom Christian Counseling and Bible Seminary and is a graduate of the Grace Bible Institute.
Speaking from the heart of her own experiences as a wife, mother of two sons, and ministry coordinator, Yolanda has the unique ability to connect to women, men and youth from all walks of life. Through Break Free Release Ministries, she has forged a path of success, achievement, and faith-based empowerment for others. She has accepted the call to help family members to develop lasting relationships, self- esteem, and self-worth. In Break Free Release Ministries, Yolanda equips individuals with the necessary tools to realize their potential, to bring about personal transformation, and to release them from the chains that bind them to the sin of this world.

She also serves as a mentor to women, youth, and families in ministry and on the streets by helping them to develop their leadership potential through guidance and encouragement. While seeking to equip and empower people to live a surrendered life under God’s authority, she continues to allow God to use her life in a greater capacity and as an example for others through prayer, fasting, seeking the WORD to pour healing on those who are hurting internally through the Power of God and His presence.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been an easy journey but it was worth it. My advice is that you can accomplish anything your hearts desire if you put God first. You must keep pressing your way no matter what obstacles arise in your life. You must believe that you are chosen for your kingdom assignment to help others reach their full potential because you didn’t give up and remained faithful.

Our mission is to equip, empower, and educate youth, women, and families through community outreach programs that provide physical, social, and spiritual resources. Through various counseling services and mentoring initiatives, our goal is to improve the over quality of life for individuals in our program. Break Free is most thankful for the transformation that takes place in the lives of the individuals that are apart of our programs. What sets us apart as an organization is the love of God that is displayed to every person that are apart of our programs. We want them to know that no matter what has happened in their life circumstances, they are still victorious.
What do you feel are the biggest barriers today to female leadership, in your industry or generally?
The biggest barriers are women have been considered the weaker person. Women are sometimes not looked upon as being able to handle difficult situations in a leadership position.
