Thanks for sharing your story with us Justina. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My career in energy psychology and brand strategy is one I was always drawn to. I may not have always had the framework or correct wording, but I’m grateful I’ve found my place in the world. I’ve always been a champion for the underdog or followed after interests that weren’t mainstream. Energy psychology work is one of those fields that you won’t find in mainstream America. The field of energy psychology is still gaining traction and doing so quickly. It’s an alternative healing protocol that helps to eliminate negative beliefs and helps one to align with their true beliefs and potential.
I started out as an undecided college student who fell into psychology by accident. I quickly realized that some of the principles taught in this field challenged my faith. This prompted a life long study on personal development, success mindset principles, positive thinking and its intersection with my faith. Along that journey, I discovered Christian energy healing work. I loved my psychology classes and eventually went on to get a Masters in Human Service Counseling with a concentration in Business.
While pursuing my Masters, I volunteered with the Army Community Services in order to help military spouses legalize their businesses on post. I began to help women with ideas around their niche, their target audience, their brand message and marketing ideas as well. I also discovered that a woman can have desires to utilize her God give talents but she also comes up against fears, low self-esteem, and limiting beliefs that simply hold her back from taking action and accomplishing what she has set out to do. Hence, Soulfully Aligned Business Coaching was born.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Don’t get me wrong, it was a LONG journey, I can look back and connect the dots now but there were many pit stops along the way. I got pregnant my junior year of college, I became a homeschool co-op director, I ran my own child care business for a year, I was a life insurance agent, represented more than a few networking marketing companies, been a leasing agent and you can even add topless dancer to that list. I share that openly because I want to remind people that your past does not define you. You may find yourself on this winding road with loops, turns and dead ends but eventually you get on that soulfully aligned path to serving in a capacity that lights up your soul. It’s your choice on how quickly you shift.
I had to make shifts in my own journey. Playing out the roles of mom and a military spouse can take a lot of your time and cause you to feel like you’re losing an aspect of yourself. It makes you question your identity and purpose outside of being a mom and wife. I found myself giving things up that were important to me. That sacrifice was a compromise that I will never regret, because of my values around family and quality time. We had a lot of that. But in that season of my life, I wondered who I was and what was my gifting and purpose outside of my assumed roles? That began my journey down this road of pursuing a long lost passion. I ended up starting my freelance makeup artistry business.
Along this journey, I actually turned away from using my master’s degree in an obvious field and pursued a career that made sense to no one else but me. I became a Professional Commercial Makeup Artist for interviews, commercials, tv/film. I’m so glad I was able to step out of my comfort zone, find myself and my passion outside of being a mom and wife. This is the very experience that fueled my confidence to start a second business coaching other women to brand their passions and do so with confidence for the past five years. Had I not walked in my own path to monetize and brand my passion ten years ago, I would not have had a framework for what it takes to be a mindset coach and brand strategist helping other women who were just like me, today.
However, when people hear me talk about my makeup artistry skill set they think I’m obsessed with beauty and products. That could be the furthest from the truth. When it comes to makeup it’s about symmetry and alignment for me. Finding the imperfections and imbalances in the face and correcting those things. I take that same analyzing skill and I apply it to life, purpose, and business. What steps are you taking that are keeping you from reaching your goals? What thoughts and ideas do you need to correct or get into alignment so you can set yourself on a path of success? There are imperfections in the way that we perceive ourselves. There’s some imbalances in the way we operate that leave us feeling unworthy to pursue what we love or desire. That’s the work I love helping women to overcome.

As a mindset coach and brand strategist, I’ve coined the term, Soul-Brand Alignment Strategist. I’ve also been called by my peers “The Mindset Queen”. Do you have a lesson or advice you’d like to share with young women just starting out?
The best piece of advice I could give a woman starting her career is to ensure that you are pursuing something that you truly desire to do. I’ve ran across a lot of women who leave college with degrees they never really wanted in the first place. They enter a career and quickly realize that it will never fuel their soul. If you happen to be on that soulful path and you are starting work that lights you up, my next advice would be not to compare yourself. Trust your instinct and work on your confidence. Most of the time it’s not our competence that gets us, it’s our confidence and insecurity around being enough that causes us to self-sabotage. Continue to do the inner work, defining who you are outside of the roles that you assume and stay aware of your feelings and emotions and give yourself permission to shift when necessary. Forget who’s watching and follow your heart and soul on what’s next for you.
