Today we’d like to introduce you to Madison Thomas.
Madison, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I played the drums since I was a little girl behind my mother in church and learned about how to volunteer my services to the community and how to be paid as a musician. I begin to play four different churches self-taught since I was ten years old and I polished my craft by practicing every single week. My first photoshoot for modeling happened when I graduated high school at 17, and it was the beginning of my modeling career. After High School at age 19, I was recruited into a singing group and began singing all over Houston to Austin. While doing this, I was exposed to body paint artist and became a human canvas for ABC Bodyart operated by vonetta Berry. I noticed that I give better customer service helping other businesses and branding myself than working for a company that cares nothing about me and my Pursuits. I began to look for an agent then I came across an entrepreneur mother-of-three from Indianapolis who owns veyn Model Management. After studying her work, model, and work ethic I knew this new agency would be my home. After being signed, not only have I been a part of Charity fashion shows in Celebrity music videos, I’ve been a part of growing with entrepreneurs and like-minded people.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No matter where you go the road will never be easy, always remember the bigger picture is more important. One thing I’ve always noticed from childhood to adulthood is that if you do not have a drive for want you want you will never have it. When you find your purpose or work for someone else’s, there will always be sacrifices that are inevitable. I have lost friendships, been lonely, discouraged by family members, single and sometimes broke, but when I look at all of these sacrifices and look at where I am now it all makes sense. My biggest advice for all women starting their Journey no matter at what age is that not everyone is going to understand and not everyone will be coming with you therefore not everyone should be involved. Only those who can understand the last sentence knows that even the people you love can make what you do harder than it needs to be.
What should we know about MaddiBlaire? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am a promotional model singer, self-taught percussionist, and human canvas. I specialize in crowd interaction, engagement, and entertainment. Every day there’s someone who came to a party and does not know what it’s for and who threw it. I am a very open-minded, outspoken, bubbly person, it is very easy for me to raise excitement and energy into a crowd. Usually, I am body painted or dressed for the occasion to either walk in a show or distract the crowd until the act or slot. If I am not painted or modeling clothes, I will be singing covers or songs that I have written. I am proud to be a part of an organization that is business professional, serious about growth and development, extremely diverse, and raises the expectations of prospective and current clients. Being an outgoing, bubbly, open-minded, creative model, I am able to reach out to multiple backgrounds with polished customer service, respect, and a team who is willing to help me with providing the best service to the event as a whole. I have noticed there are many models that are booked for these types of events and are mostly on their phone or inactive. My job is to make sure the client is more than satisfied with the service expected.
What do you feel are the biggest barriers today to female leadership, in your industry or generally?
The biggest barriers in female leadership is being taken advantage of and not doing your research. I’ve noticed since childhood to adulthood, that if you do not have a hunger for what you want you will never have it. Doing your research is critical, in this business you are always learning something, and meeting new people. There have been times where I have taken pictures with people that I did not know important or famous, and I could have extended opportunities to them had I known who they were. You can easily be taken advantage of not knowing your worth, not knowing who you’re dealing with, and not being prepared.
