Today we’d like to introduce you to Raechelle Garmon.
Raechelle, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelors in Business Management. This was one of the most confusing seasons of my life because I was uncertain of my earthly future! One thing I was certain of is that it would involve others in some way. I obtained my teacher’s certification and began working as a teacher. Although I loved helping children, something about it still left me feeling unfulfilled. My passion for wanting to help others prompted me to pursue a Masters degree in Counseling from Prairie View A&M University. Of course, I thought that traditional counseling would be my journey. When my husband, Robert, and I were expecting our first child, things began to change. By the time my baby boy, Ryan, arrived, my idea about what I would be doing with my life dramatically shifted and we made the decision for me to stay home with him. Eventually, we welcomed two more answered prayers, our daughters, Raegan and then Reese. With much thought and prayer, we decided that I would homeschool our children! I experienced several challenges with motherhood, both personal and with my babies. I had a wonderful friend, who introduced the world of Young Living Essential Oils to me and my family; that’s when my world began to shift! Over the years, my journey really prompted me to dive into natural wellness, while also sharing with others! After tons of trials, triumphs, education, and many developed friendships, my career as a Natural Wellness Advocate is being fine-tuned into a wonderful business! It just naturally became my business, heart’s desire, and passion, all because of wanting to share what has worked for me and my family.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Smooth, no! Challenges, oh yes! The main challenge with my business was due to me not wanting to take away from my family. What I ultimately learned is that they are my number one priority and my time with them is precious! I vowed to stick to that and God has created a way for me to do that, while also pouring into others!
Anyone looking to fulfill their passion, I would say to dig deep and find out who you are, as you set aside time to really meditate on your purpose… the more I came into the knowledge of who I am in Christ, the clearer the murkiness of life became! Be patient… everything you are experiencing is a part of the journey! If we start at the destination, the journey is so less beautiful!
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Grounded and Green story. Tell us more about it.
My natural wellness business is known as Grounded and Green. We are a group of Christ-centered women, with a passion for natural wellness. We are humbled to describe ourselves as being grounded in faith, while living a green lifestyle! What sets us apart; the majority of us are minorities, educated, mothers, from different walks of life, sharing a passion for one of life’s most natural forms of wellness, essential oils. Interestingly, we saw a very minimal presence of African Americans in the natural wellness market. We vowed to modify that and be the change we want to see! We knew that if other African Americans could see themselves with these non-toxic products, they could experience the freedom that we have all been so blessed to experience.
It would be great to hear about any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve used and would recommend to others.
