Conversations with the Inspiring Renisha Sanders

Today we’d like to introduce you to Renisha Sanders.

Renisha, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I currently live and work in Shreveport, LA. I own and operate an online boutique, Unparalleled. In my shop, you will find top quality hair extensions and mink eyelashes. I stand by the quality of my products and have several supporters that live for and flaunt my products proudly.

I have always had great ideas and a vision for success (a true visionary) and decided to JUMP and go for my dream of owning my very own boutique. My passion for hair and women beautification led me to the core products I provide. While I am a new business owner, I am learning that drive and motivation will continue to get you through the late nights and early mornings. Also, that balance is key to maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

I was also just recently named Vice President of a local non-profit, Norla Preservation Project. Our mission is to promote the preservation, restoration, and revitalization of North Louisiana’s historic architecture and neighborhoods by acquiring historic properties and giving them new purpose through adaptive reuse. Our board works hard to maintain the culture and education of our city’s history. We host History Happy Hours and Love your Louisiana classes. I feel passionate about this and think that every community should have people who love and support its heritage and move others to preserve and cultivate the city’s culture. My goal is to spark this in others and hopefully, the desire to do more flourishes.

Has it been a smooth road?
I am a wife of a business owner and a mother to two young boys. I feel these are my most important roles and my family are my biggest supporters! While I think it would be foolish to say “I can do it all”, as I think those who strive for perfection are missing the important things life has to offer, I will say I work really hard at balance and order. Sometimes, I fail… but I always learn from my mistakes and try and find a better way to do things.

My message to young female entrepreneurs is to keep growing, keep grinding and keep educating yourselves. Let your voice be heard and make sure to always take your seat at the table!

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Unparalleled Hair and Lash Boutique story. Tell us more about the business.
I am most proud of the fact that I turned a thought and wish into a reality. I took my money and invested it in myself. I’ve learned that having a CEO mindset is a must, and the greatest way to make a person think like a business owner is to make them a business owner. Women, your investment is not only your time but also your mind. Continue to nurture it and soak up all information from whatever resources are available to you. Do not shy away from opportunities, yet embrace them. Remember… take your seat at the table you worked so hard to get to.

I want my brand to grow into not only providing quality products to others but also an aide to motivating others to lead the way for generations to come.

It would be great to hear about any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve used and would recommend to others.
I read a lot and heard a quote that knowledge is not power… sharing it is. Share your resources with the world and they will love and support you for it.

Audible is a great resource! I sometimes spread myself too thin therefore I try and maximize every minute I have. I listen to books while driving, walking, jogging and working.

My children love to read as well… I will continue to nourish that.

I also make sure to upkeep my spiritual reading, in order to prepare myself for God’s service.
