Conversations with Noe Vasquez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Noe Vasquez.

Hi Noe, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always wanted to make music since I was little, but I didn’t start taking it seriously until honestly the end of 2019. I grew up around music. My family always had music blasting through the house no matter what. My mom would play her Christian inspirational music in Spanish while my dad would play his Cumbias, country, and old school rock. My oldest sister would play her emo/punk rock songs with the classic R&B. My older my brothers made sure to play that  old Christian  hip hop and screamo. I grew up into a mixture of everything since I’m the youngest. There isn’t any genre of music that I won’t listen to. I love music. I got into my churches music group at around 14. I started with the drums and then transitioned into a vocalist. Soon after that, I became the group’s lead singer and it has been amazing. I also did the band in middle school and half of high school. I played percussion.

I did a little bit of rapping in high school, but I never took it seriously because I thought people would judge me. I wish I would’ve, though. Who knows where I would be right now if I did. I never really had a friend group that loved music like I did and wanted to do something with it. I would sing with a couple of friends and do covers, but that was about it. I did make one song, but it wasn’t mine. It was a remix for a friend, haha. After I graduated, I went straight to work and didn’t pursue music at all. Back then, my girlfriend would always motivate and push me to pursue it but I would never believe in myself. She always did. She pushed me and pushed me. If it wasn’t for God and her I would’ve never kept going. I prayed for a friend group that had the same ambitions and goals as me and boy did God answer those prayers. Everyone I’m connected to and work with now I met towards the end of 2019 and they’re family to me now. I wouldn’t be where I’m if it wasn’t for my brother, family, friends, and wife. Now I’m more dedicated than ever to make music not just for me but also for God and people who go through the same struggles as me. There’s a lot more to say about me, but I will try to keep this short, haha.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
No, it hasn’t. I’ve wanted to quit so many times. Many of the struggles were self-doubt, surrounded myself with people that didn’t benefit me, with people who didn’t believe and doubted me, distractions, self addictions and so much more. In no way has this journey been easy and it still gets hard. I’ve just learned how to deal with situations more as I get older and get closer to God.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Right now, I work in the oil field business as a full-time job. We specialize in almost anything that has to do with an oilfield. Pipeline maintenance, fabrication, pipeline construction, anything that has to do with the oilfield, we most likely do it. I’m most known for being the happy guy, haha. My nickname has literally been smiley because I always try to stay positive and help others. I’m most proud of the work I do. The commitment I put into doing the job right. That’s what my dad taught us how to work. I don’t know what sets me apart from others; people see that in me. My goal is to do music full time, though. If you guys are wondering about my music job then I would say what sets me apart is my sounds.

What matters most to you? Why?
God, family and people. It always has been and always will be. It matters the most because materialistic things come and go, but God and family are forever. They’re there when you’re down when you’re happy. At your highs, at your lows. No matter what, real family sticks around. When I say family, including my friends, they are my brothers and sisters even though they aren’t blood. I want to take care of the people I love the most. People matter to me because everyone goes through something and it gets hard. Our job is to reach people and spread the gospel and spread love. Without people, I wouldn’t be where I’m at. They are the ones that support me and I genuinely have a love for everyone. I want to see everyone happy.
