Conversations with Alex Antoine

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Antoine.

Hi Alex, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started my wedding industry as a DJ back in 2014 in Baton Rouge, LA, where I am originally from. I had a friend who worked for Complete Weddings + Events there and would always talk about how fantastic his job was so, naturally, I wanted to try it. I grew up loving music and am a musician so I fell in love with being a DJ. Being a wedding DJ, you get to see people on the happiest day of their lives. Also, getting to play a part in making that day as wonderful as possible makes the job extremely rewarding. Working with Complete in Louisiana, I was part of a team that has consistently been rated among the highest in customer satisfaction in our company across the US for the past couple of years. I met my wife while at LSU and after she graduated law school, she told me she wanted to move back to her hometown of Houston. Of course, I followed her and had the opportunity to become the owner of Complete Weddings + Events Houston in January 2020.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been easy at all. Becoming the owner in January of 2020, I had to deal with covid essentially stopped me in my tracks. It basically was a humongous obstacle that we thankfully seem to be looking on the other side of for the most part. As somewhat of a silver lining, the fact that it happened so early meant that it was more of a setback as opposed to the potential business ruiner that it was for so many. While many companies were struggling with refunds and cancellations, I was trying to network and build connections.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Complete Houston, we offer DJ, Photo, Video, Photo Booth, Lighting, and Coordination services for weddings and events! I am most proud of the team that we have built and for overcoming the obstacles that we have faced. Our motto is “Be Awesome” and everyone from our DJs to our photo booth operators brings that mentality to every event that we perform. I am also proud of our company’s effort through our Do Good campaign in partnership with Global Partners in Hope. We have helped raise money to build wells for clean drinking water and even a medical center to help people in remote areas in Togo, West Africa.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I think the quality that is most important to our success is our commitment to our core values. Part of that is to love your work and cultivate joy. Joy is much deeper than happiness and through our line of work, we have the opportunity to bring joy to life. Whether that is through keeping everyone having fun and dancing or capturing all of that energy and excitement with a photo or video, we are there to ensure the day is memorable.
