Conversations with Alex Lumpee and Shea Richter

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Lumpee and Shea Richter.

Alex Lumpee Shea Richter

Hi Alex and Shea, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
Gold+Grace began in 2022 when we, Shea and Alex, embarked on this journey with no idea if it would work. Initially, just the two of us, our team has since expanded to include 7 additional members. Since we started, we’ve hosted nearly 300 pop-up events and over 60 private parties. Expanding into Houston marked a significant milestone for us as did the launch of our online jewelry line.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey hasn’t always been smooth, especially with the many roles that small business owners like us must juggle – from being a mom and a wife to managing social media, online sales, and finances, and more. Balancing these responsibilities while striving to be the best mom possible poses its challenges. However, amidst any struggles that we may come across, we’ve found solace in our faith, with God serving as our steadfast support. When our days are uncertain, and we’re not sure if we will even make a paycheck that month, God is our steady support.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’d say that we are most proud of the team we’ve built. We could not possibly do the number of events we have without our incredible team. Finding employees that are more than an employee but a friend is difficult. But each of our “Golden Girls,” as we like to call them, is kind and compassionate. They are each so good at working with people and making people feel beautiful. In our line of work, so much of our job is making people feel confident in what they choose and what they wear. Our girls go above and beyond for each and every client to help them pick out the perfect piece and flaunt it spectacularly.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success in business has always felt to me like planting and tending a garden. Similar to planning literal seeds, we’ve had to plant ideas and then take care of those ideas by following through on them. Some of the ideas work, and others don’t. But you can’t be successful unless you try. Success blooms when the seeds of your vision are watered with planning and perseverance. And when we see our ideas come to like and then be successful, there’s nothing else like it.
