Hi Amna, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Cakemyyday is a mother-daughter venture founded by Sobia Farooqi and Amna Farooqui, built on a shared passion for creativity, baking, and bringing joy to people’s special moments.
For as long as she can remember, Sobia has been drawn to the world of arts and crafts. Whether it was painting, creating beautiful henna designs, or making candles, she always enjoyed exploring her creative side.
Baking began as a hobby, with homemade cakes and desserts prepared for family gatherings and visits to friends. Her treats quickly became a favorite, and the appreciation she received encouraged her to pursue baking more seriously.
In 2019, Sobia transformed her passion into a business by launching Cakemyyday, specializing in custom cakes designed to make every celebration memorable.
Meanwhile, Amna was completing her undergraduate studies and supported her mother whenever her schedule allowed. After graduating in 2020 with a degree in Business Administration, specializing in Human Resource Management, she became more involved in the business. As demand grew, so did their commitment to Cakemyyday.
What started with helping in the kitchen and managing customer inquiries soon evolved into a deeper involvement in cake artistry. Over time, Amna learned the craft of cake decorating, working with fondant, buttercream, and whipped cream to help create cakes that were as beautiful as they were delicious.
A new chapter began in November 2024 when Amna got married and moved to Houston, Texas. Inspired by the opportunity to reach a new community, she envisioned expanding Cakemyyday beyond its original roots and introducing their handcrafted custom cakes to customers in the United States.
Today, Cakemyyday continues to be a labor of love—a journey that began with a mother’s passion, grew through a daughter’s dedication, and thrives on creating sweet memories for every customer who becomes a part of our story.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The early days were not without challenges. Being a self-taught artist, Sobia had to learn everything through her own experience, dedication, and perseverance. Every obstacle became an opportunity to learn, grow, and improve her craft.
Dealing with customers was another challenge that we faced in the beginning.

Cakemyyday Sugar Land LLC is a home-based bakery founded with a passion for creativity and a love for baking. Our journey began in Karachi, Pakistan, where Sobia Farooqi, a self-taught baker and cake artist, turned her passion into a business dedicated to creating beautiful custom cakes.
Specializing in custom-designed cakes, fondant artistry, and buttercream creations, Sobia built Cakemyyday through determination, hard work, and a commitment to continuously refining her craft.
We take immense pride in this venture, not only because it has grown into a successful business, but because it has given us the confidence to pursue our passion, trust our abilities, and transform our dreams into reality. Every cake we create reflects the dedication, creativity, and love that inspired Cakemyyday from the very beginning.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Believing in ourselves, being confident in our craft, being consistent with the quality of our baked items, preferring quality over quantity
